I’m not sure I would consider Kyrie a tier 1 at this point.

Yeah, I was teetering on whether or not I should include him. You're probably right, Kawhi and Durant tier 1, Kyrie tier 2, Butler, Klay, Kemba tier 3.

Butler has already forced his way out of two teams and had a cup of coffee on a third. He isn’t afraid to stir shite up if he thinks people aren’t playing to his standards.

And you want him on the Lakers after this past season? Good luck.

but Butler legit top 12-20 player and pairing him w lebron and BI makes lake show legit.

I’d go with “gobsmacked” considering that the Lakers are a shite show right now and Kawhi has made comments to the effect of him not wanting to play next to LeBron.

Not out of the realm of possibility but not nearly as likely as the “Laker insider” seems to think.

I think the issue there is, who wants to be paying a 33 year old Butler 38 million dollars?

paying jimmy max money is risky enough short term much less 3-5 years of deal. He's a nice role player but shouldn't be paid max any longer.

Half y’all talk about Butler like he’s a role player.

Half y’all talk about him like he’s a killer who demands the best from everyone in an organization like Kobe.

I think Jimmy is awesome. I like him a lot. He's probably exactly what Lakers need. I just really don't like him on a max contract moving fwd when he's 30 yrs old now.

Hard to criticize the post season defense when you don't make it.

your level of play doesn't determine your mentality/demands of teammates

although he's way above "role player" but will likely be a "role player" at the end of this deal

But it seems like people talk about it in a positive light.

How could a guy like Butler being a huge count like he has been be a positive thing?

If I were the Lakers, the max priorities would be:

Kawhi
Kyrie/Klay

Then a guy like Butler. If Butler is a fallback, it's a pretty good fallback. He's a legit two way player.

He's just not as good as Kawhi and not as good a fit as Klay. The age thing scares me, but he's a guy that you think the Lakers upgrade significantly with. Ingram, Ball, Hart and Butler are all good perimeter defenders. Butler also would give the Lakers a third major scorer, which they lacked.

Agree with all of this. My only worries with Jimmy are his knees and spacing offensively.
He can create his own shot, play defense, and he’s got the dog this team severely lacks imo

There will be so many bumpable threads after this LA team ends up coming together this summer. The whole "nobody wants to play in LA/with LeBron" bit has been overplayed.

I really dislike the Lakers, but this board is blinded by its hate for both LA and LeBron.
