Jimmy Butler says if he's ever elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame, he won't attend the ceremony.

"I'm not worried about the Hall of Fame. ...It's an honor, it is, but I could care less."

Is there any indication or argument thag he’s even a borderline HOFer? He’s barely in the hall of very good.

False. He's definitely in. It's the Basketball Hall of Fame. Everybody gets in. It's not like baseball.

He will definitely go if invited. I'm sure it's the last thing on his mind at the moment.

He was great in his later Chicago years and carried this Heat team to finals. Not saying he will be in but he’s definitely a guy in the conversation plus basketball HOF is easy to get into.

True, I always hate getting quality recognition from peers.

It’s also not restricted to the NBA.

Tim Hardaway was recently inducted and they have similar career achievements right now with Butler’s career not over yet. Butler also has lead his team to the NBA Finals. He’s definitely going into the Basketball HOF.

He's 5x All-NBA, 5x All-defensive. Led his team to the finals on 2 separate occasions.

He easily makes the HOF imo. That being said, I bet he reverses course on that statement later on.

I've always thought it was bad form to bring up the HOF with active players, especially borderline cases.

What are they supposed to say? If they act like they care and plead their case then they will get crucified for being egotistical or campaigning. If they pretend not to care then they don't respect the honor or traditions of the game.

So they have to walk this middle ground tight rope that pays all due respect without advocating even a little for themselves.
