91% is excellent if you compare to 2018. I assume that the 152 pitches exclude all balls in play and swing-and-misses. 91% is not bad for a first game; I would expect her to improve as she goes along. If she can do the job, great. If not, then she should not be an MLB ump. Personally, I think she'll do fine. If Angel Hernandez can be an ump.......

91% is terrible no matter the year.

Recent rookie umpire performances outside of this female in the last few years in their first game

Alex Tosi-96.69%
Malachi Moore-89.38%
Nick Mahrley-91.16%
Edwin mosoco-91.67%

So she seems in line with what’s expected for a first game

Let’s just agree to have robot umps for balls and strikes and then just call it a day. It will literally eliminate any controversy and we clearly have the technology to do it

Why do people keep saying this?

Umpires will still call balls and strikes behind the plate but the automated system will be used to challenge missed calls.

Umpiring is definitely something that a female could do as well as a male. There are many, many things where that's not true that it's pretended as if they can....this is not one of them.

Why do so many posters on this board hate women?

So what you are saying is even on her first game ever at the mlb level she was better than a man with experience that day

You think that helps your argument?

Sure.

That's not really the point though.

It's the unnatural selection of that person that is the problem.

Not sure what the selection process was here - I honestly don't know, did she skip a year of umpiring school skip up from Single A to the majors ahead of folks who graded out better or some such?

What's the "natural" selection process for a temporary alternate umpire? And prove that her selection was "unnatural."

For now... but pretty soon all balls/strikes will be called by the automated system.

Umpires will still be needed, of course, to relay the call plus make all the other calls behind the plate.
