I can't believe so any people think that was a strike. The only way it could have possibly have been a strike was if it bounced on the very back part of the plate on the black. Just as in softball, it the catcher catches it, it was WAY over the batter's head when it crossed the plate.

You mean a 40 mph pitch isn't supposed to sneak a strike past the hitter. You're kidding me.

It would actually be a good pitch to slip a strike past the batter if you could consistently throw it for a strike. When you aren't expecting it, it tends to freeze you.

Not sure why this is so hard for people to understand. The motive is to sucker the hitter to swing (has worked in MLB before) and not to slip a called strike by the batter. There's not an umpire out there that would call a strike on an eephus.

Even though you're a Bama fan, you are correct oh great one.

That ball was way too high.

Any pitch that hits the plate is by definition a ball in softball FWIW.

Yea. Yu's was a strike.

Regardless, they were both eephus pitches and I was responding to somebody who say no ump would call one a strike.

Seems like a decent hitter could jack that thing at will.

I said the black, which is NOT, technically, part of home plate.
