For those who are biting on TMZ being legit, HERE is a sample....and what The Smoking Gun has to say about the "story".

Look for this to be resolved shortly. Winston will be a 100% cleared.

Let's just say the girl's motive is suspect

not really when it comes to a height

half a foot is a big difference

half a foot and a completely different body build is a HUGE difference. 5-9, 240 is a fat frick

Why would they be concerned about the Heisman chances of someone who was redshirting at the time of the incident?

yeah this was before their bowl last year. this would have been resolved long before he was ever given the opportunity to leave the bench. TMZ is just talking out of their arse about a sport they really don't understand.

But girls are fricking stupid enough to be off by that much. I agree that this whole thing is a shitshow, but the smoking gun is not the height/weight estimate.

The girl was drunk and there is a good chance she wasn't the smartest if this was the company she was keeping.

It is not unreasonable to believe she misjudged the persons height

The focus is now shifting to Florida State Attorney William Meggs as he attempts to forcibly open the resolved case against Winston.

quote:

Jameis Winston’s attorney, Tim Jansen, noted that this case was closed in February of this year. What has prompted State Attorney William Meggs to hastily and unexpectedly reopen this case?

According to Meggs himself, (as per a recent USA Today report), “We had no knowledge of this until [this past Wednesday]… I have made our office available to do whatever needs to be done. We will try to come to the right and just resolution in this case, wherever it leads us.”

The charges were addressed, investigated and subsequently dropped by the Tallahassee police department. The newfound fame and stardom Jameis Winston that has enjoyed based on his immense talent and potential has attracted attention. It is challenging to avoid linking Winston’s rise to fame, as well allegations against the state attorney regarding discriminatory practices, to Megg’s decision to reopen the case.

Florida State Attorney William Meggs will now be forced to explain how Jameis Winston’s promising athletic career, and his subsequent rise to stardom, relates to the unexpected reopening of the resolved charges against him.

Why would the SA be "forced" to explain that? If there is a case, there is a case.

"Just spoke to a family friend of the the Winston's - He said he knew about this months ago, it is a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time - JW is completely innocent and nothing will come out of this story !!! JW and 4 other players from FSU were at a party and one of them was feeling a girl up ... He saw what happened and that is it, then he jumped all over the player for doing it and then he and the players left -- JW took the high road in this, he was angry the player would do that -- The witness affidavits are simply that witness affidavits ... Nothing will come of this "" Our QB is completely innocent and he and the University are handling this the right way !!!

The question really becomes...

Who did it? And since Jameis isnt really a suspect...

Is he at fault for "not snitching"

*If this is indeed true*

Shocked the girl would go to the hospital and let them "collect evidence" if all someone did was "feel her up".

Thanks for clearing up JW's role in all this sounds like we should be applauding him for getting angry at his friends and making them stop and leave the party. Truly a pillar of the community in Tallahassee.

That link is implying that the SA is racist and that he is lying about not having prior knowledge of the investigation against Jameis.

Bottom line is that the ccase wasn't presented to the DA due to lack of evidence. No new evidence has been presented and unless something comes out, the case will be closed.

Sounds like Duke lacrosse and George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin again. The police seem to find nothing worth bringing charges over, but then the DA catches wind and forces the case to be reopened.

Well, what likely happened is that Jameis was listed in the initial investigation as a witness and now that he's famous, either the girl or someone close to TPD tried to cash in on the case. And/or someone close to TPD has some sketchy motives now that Jameis is in the Heisman hunt.

Now the DA's hand is forced because he has to at least look into it. If Jameis wasn't a celebrity, the case never would have had a chance of being re-opened.

The worst part about all of this is that his name now been drug through the mud for absolutely no reason. And fans from certain fan bases are now referring to him as a rapist.

ESPN's Robert Smith was saying this morning that (paraphrasing)... "Winston not giving a statement to police is something that Heisman voters have to consider. These are serious charges. I understand using all of your legal tools and not giving a statement to police, but Heisman voters have to consider character. If it is just a case of mistaken identity, they should come out and say that, not just say witnesses will corroborate Winston's story."

Get real. Who talks about a case during an active investigation? Unfortunately, the damage is already done for now, whether Jameis is innocent or not.
