idk why...but when I watched the JR doc this song popped in my head. Even though the song has nothing to do with anything similar to JR.
The National - Think you can wait
The National - Think you can wait
quote:
According to Matt Berninger, the band wrote the song after watching the film "Win Win" and becoming inspired by Tom McCarthy's themes of "very normal and good people trying to do their best and the struggle to be good." The result, "Think You Can Wait," is a gorgeous, brooding composition that plays over the film's credits. Hear the new National tune, which was produced by Boxer co-producer Peter Katis at Aaron Dessner's Brooklyn studio and features guest vocals by Sharon Van Etten.

I'll root for him to make it back, but he also had a billion chances to make it in the NFL
the strange thing is he didn't get another real shot after the Raiders. A lot of that is obviously his fault for being way too immature when he was drafted.. but having Kiffin run around bad mouthing him to Cowherd and whoever else would listen "off the record" certainly didn't help.
I'll root for him because I don't think there's any harm in the guy and he's been unfairly maligned at least at times for a guy who was drafted by the worst organization in football and "coached" by another immature character in boy blunder.

god i hope he makes it back to the NFL

Where is this coming from? He didn't get another shot because he was 320 pounds and couldn't play at that weight. Teams probably looked at him, which is a chance, but they passed on him after they didn't like what they saw.
I'm rooting for him to make it back, but he had plenty of chances. It isn't like teams are just going to pass on a great QB cause they don't like him. He just wasn't good enough then for various reasons to be an NFL QB.

Fantastic.
Maybe I'm a homer, but I still think he can make it.
Never in my life seen anybody that can wing the ball like JaMarcus could.

Not a homer at all, his talent level is there and was the reason he was the #1 overall pick. He is still young enough to make a comeback and I predict he will get a look by fall from teams.

I watched the documentary this morning. Was disturbed near the end when they said he needed to get down to 275. I think he needs to play closer to 250.

270 was just his goal to be at by May, but he hasn't played at 250 since his freshman year at LSU. 260-265 would be a good playing weight for him.

How much does he weigh now??

Are you serious? He is a HUGE man. He has lost 40 pounds, so he is at 275 already. I bet he looks so much better. He needs to keep grinding, though. This saying is true: there is a difference between being "in shape" and being "in football shape".

Russell's career was so short I don't even remember him playing in the NFL... gone in a flash

Exactly...if Lebron James at 6'-8" 255 can play basketball, Russell at 6'-6" 270 will be just fine...

And at 275 he was slow as molasses in January. NFL doesn't want QBs who resemble statues.

The people in the know say the goal is 270. I will just defer to their judgment.

He was 315 in January. He's 275 now. Would bet he runs around a 4.9-5.0 at this point. Only ran a 4.83 at his original pro day.

He played at 265 his JR year. And i don't think he was training the way he is now.
270 is probably lighter then he ever was in the NFL and a good weight for him. As someone else said, he's a huge man.
He was 305 his last year for the Raiders.
