You knew he had great character when he patiently waited behind Tua after he was benched. His SEC title redemption story is great. I hate Bama, but Jalen is a classy guy.

Redemption story? He was the starting QB for BAMA for 2 straight National Championship games. When he got beat out he stayed his Junior season at BAMA and played a lot as a backup and went to another National Championship game. That's 3 straight National Championship games at BAMA.

Jalen played more actual football at BAMA than Tua, Mac, or Bryce.

Jalen was hardly just riding the bench

As if he’s the only NFL player to hold out for a better contract.

Does this overlap in any way with the Stetson Bennett timeline of spending six years in college but still not completing his Bachelor's degree?

That's not me getting "worked up." That's the amount of time and actual football he played at BAMA.

The only QB in the coach SABAN era that actually took more snaps at QB than Jalen Hurts at BAMA was AJ McCarron.

You laugh, and you certainly don’t have a Master’s degree.

Another thing is Saban didn't frick him over either. Gary Danielson mentioned several times that year that him and Tua were 50/50 on reps in practice. That is unheard of.

This makes the Stetson Bennett not graduating thing a little bit funnier

Hurts is a year younger and has been in the NFL for 2 years and got a masters before Bennett could get his bachelor degree

Yes, and it probably cost Tua the Heisman in 2018. Coach Saban was pulling Tua in games early in the 3rd quarter and it cost Tua passing stats that would have been unheard of in the SEC. Jalen played a lot of snaps as a Junior. LSU was actually the first game of the year in 2018 that Tua started in the 4th quarter. That cost Tua the Heisman. Jalen was never forgotten on the bench and coach Saban loved that guy.

I like Hurts, and he does seem to have great character, but he didn't really have much choice but to stay at Alabama as a backup to Tua for a year.

Immediate eligibility wasn't a given at the time, so you risked sitting out a year as a transfer. If Oklahoma was his destination, he would have been a backup there, too, to Murray.

He made the only logical decision; play another year of football, graduate, transfer as a graduate transfer with immediate eligibility, Murray gone to the NFL. Common sense decision.

Wish he played for someone besides the Eagles, though. Never cared much for them.
