Not only is their team going nowhere, they will have one of the best stadiums in the league in a few seasons.

Beaches, the intracoastal, Navy stuff. I've been there once, seemed like a decent spot.

You have done this exact thread before. Just because you don’t know anything about Jacksonville doesn’t mean no one else. This city isn’t lacking an identity any more than say Minneapolis. This isn’t a thing

Ahh okay.

And Houston had David Koresh and the Branch Davidians.

And I can’t believe JFK was assassinated there.

Years ago the only complaint I had was the pulp mill smell that hung around. Used to be a great club called The Other Place out on Beach Blvd. Huge, would hold over 600. Had some great bands that came through.

Had daily specials (which I think all states banned since). Beat the clock drinks started off at a penny next hour was a nickel then a dime then a quarter. Also had sink or swim and other fun stuff. Great place.

Also recall the fully nude carwash. And strip bars totally nude. They came out with a law if booze being consumed can’t have nudes have to wear those pasties. So a club fought them and had 60 minutes of heavy drinking with just legal dancers. Then had a crew come in and take out all booze (kept in carts) outside so he could have nude dancers again. City tried to shut him down but he was legal. He had to take any customer drinks not drank too. Same guy who opened nude car wash with curtains.

Remember driving from westside up Blanding Blvd to get to stadium you had to cross thru a rough section west downtown to get to it (or go long way across Buckman Bridge/295). Always gave me the jeebers.

Also famous for drive thru alcohol. We called em Happy Jax (Jax Liquors). After getting off work at NAS, drive straight there and got mixed drinks handed to you in a cup. Drive away drinking legally. Of course all that stuff is banned now. Fun times in Jax. Drove down to St Augustine most weekends to spend on beach, could drive on beach and lots of hot women.

Damn, all the fun is banned anymore.

I still can’t believe that Jacksonville hosted a Super Bowl in 2005. What a weird venue and small market for a Super Bowl.

Well, you can count on them being a candidate again once this is completed…

thing is…DS isn’t an idiot. he’s actually very intelligent. so it wasn’t that he didn’t understand per capita. he’s not allowed to understand per capita. so like most discussions that involve per capita, 90% of the discussion is him pretending not to know things

The money my parents made investing in several banks there after a local guy went down there and came back with recommendations about how that city was going to grow.
