Did Babe Ruth ever launch one over the net at Top Golf? I think not.

He’s the best player of this era by a good bit. Needs to keep it up for a while to reach the heights of Ruth and Bonds.

However, if Mickey does not blow out his knee (thank you Joe frickin DiMaggio) I don’t know if anybody could match the numbers he would’ve put up.

How the hell is it DiMaggio's fault that Mantle stepped on a drainage cover while backing him up on a fly ball?

Mantle was camped under it and DiMaggio called him off.

Trout is demonstratibly the greatest player ever through age 27. Only Mantle, Cobb, and Ruth (H+P) are close.

3 MVPs and 4 times runner up in his first 8 seasons blows everyone else away.

Ruth still GOAT, tho.

Too many stat nerd Mike Greenberg types in baseball journalism these days.

Look at what guys like A-Rod and Bonds did in a much better era of baseball before they turned 28.

BS. Pitching now is the best since the late 1960s and the pool of young talent is incredibly deep.

He’s most assuredly in that conversation.

That's not what happened. DiMaggio was already in position to catch it while Mantle was running towards it and when he tried to stop his cleat caught the drain cover.

quote:

“I was running as hard as I could to get over to it because Casey had told me before the game about how Joe had slowed up a little bit, he thought. Well, anyway, when I get there, Joe is already standing under the ball. He said, ‘I got it.’ And you don’t want to run into Joe DiMaggio. So when I tried to stop — I was going as fast as I could — my back cleat in my spike stuck in a rubber drain, and when it did, my knee went right out through the front of my leg and I just folded up on the field.”

Either could have had it, but CF is the boss. Blame the drain.

Maybe if Ruth had a bulbous HGH head. Unless you misspelled Bregman?

No shite. Who the frick thought it a good idea to put a drain there?

Whoever did that should’ve been held down and let Mantle bash his knee in.

It’s almost definitely a joke. Nothing in his/her post made any sense. I just assumed it was meant as satire.

Babe Ruth is the all-time career leader in SLG, OPS, and OPS+ and did all that in the dead-ball era.

Why do people feel the need to make shite up like no one is going to call then out

The 30s is the highest scoring deacde in MLB history. And Babe Ruth had several seasons where the AL average was over 10 runs a game
