Just look at Sam Darnold. He looks completely different w/the Panthers. It's funny what being w/a competent team can do.

Stafford is an MVP candidate and playing for a super bowl contender as well

I'll say this for Lawrence, I do believe he'll wind up being a solid Kirk Cousins level QB with a a few more Pro Bowls, but he will never win anything of note with the Jags unless they go all in on defense. They need to do what the Panthers did in 2020 and go all in on the best defensive players throughout the draft.

Mahommes played in the Big XII, which is well known for zero defensive effort.

That was a far less pass friendly NFL. You could really hit QBs and WR in the late 90s. It wasn't as common for QBs to start as rookies.

It's an unfair comparison. Trevor just doesn't have it and going to a franchise like Jacksonville with a amateur coach is a death sentence.

He played with like the 4th worst program in his conference while there. He set the FBS record for most offense in a game.

He has all the talent in the world. I think his problem is he doesn’t have the desire to be great! There were questions about it before the draft. Look at Burrow, he loves football and wants to win every play. Lawrence seems to care more about his hair and God and stuff. He can still dominates if he puts in the work!

The best QBs aren't even from the SEC

People watch the damn games. Trevor can make all the throws and will be good to great before it is said and done. He problem now is decision making. He is trying to do to much to fast. Instead of taking the sure 8 to 10 yard passes he is making the long throw and in the nfl that is just not possible. The jags problem is defense and if Urban stays they will address it next draft.

Therefore, Lawrence will have a better career than Manning.

Definitely. Jax is a solid organization with a long history of winning and a proven NFL head coach.
He is ruining all that.

That's the template they should be following. Hammer defense in the offseason, get that side of the ball tied up then go for the offensive pieces.

I'm really impressed with what rhule is doing. I've always liked him for some reason

I agree with that.

The defense is just awful. They definitely will need to address that in the offseason. What is weird, they are not completely the worst defense through the 1st three games. KC, Seattle, and Washington have given up more total yards and yards per game than than the Jags.

#1 overalls typically don't go to competent teams though. They go to the worst

True, but it’s still possible that team has a competent plan. Colts when they drafted Manning and Chargers when they drafted Eli then ended up Rivers are two that come to mind.

But that team has to be all in committed to do what it takes to be competitive and eventually build to a real contender. I’m not sure Jacksonville has that commitment. Wasn’t sure Cincy had it either, but they’ve surrounded Burrow with quite a few legit good weapons.

Needs to cut his fricking hair and move on from
High school.

Still runs around in circles thinking he’s going to hit someone wide open.

Meyer is going to get him killed with the OSU offense run plays.

Not going to end up well for this dude unless he’s traded, even then, Darnold showed signs and arm talent for the Jets, just made terrible decisions.

Lawrence still looks like a high school/college QB

I thought the play calling was very Clemson-ish (not this years offense!). Trevor looked really comfortable out there last night.

Trevor Lawrence will have a great pro career. He is the best of the rookie QB. He checks all the boxes.
I also think Urban Meyer will turn the team around.

We won't know how good Trevor is until, in a few years, he goes to the Cowboys, Rams, or other decent team.

Meyer isn't a pro coach.
