Let’s include USSR hockey team. In no world should they have lost. Pro’s against college kids.

And USA beat em. To me that is still the biggest ever win in any sport and thus the biggest choke by any team in history.

25 points in football and 29 points in basketball are two very, very different situations. 28-3 is still the worst by a solid margin.

It gives 28-3 (please help me forget) a run for its money, but idk if it is as bad.

I don’t think it’s that close. Falcons had a 28-3 lead to win the title. Spurs had the lead to tie the series headed home. I think this will be an important note for the series and the season, but I think this will be forgotten in a few years, and remembered way down the line when a team breaks the record.

Basketball, Football, Baseball, and Hockey are sports. NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL are entertainment businesse$. 81-52 and 28-3.

"DraftKings and FanDuel act as the NBA's co-official sports betting partners. NBA maintains lucrative busines$ partnerships with dozens of other major gaming entities, including BetMGM and Fanatics Sportsbooks."

Google AI overview.

"I think it's time we all recognize the NBA has a great creative team and writers. Wow. What a story! Texas heels rout hometown heroes in the 1st half at the World's Most Famous Arena (@TheGarden ), only for the babyfaces to perform the greatest comeback EVER! My compliments!"

And I’ll add Yankees/Red Sox 2004

And 73-win Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead

Football and basketball are in no way comparable sports besides the fact both teams are in play at the same time against each other, but this ranks up there with 28.3

28.3 probably still ranks top, but chokes across all sports are difficult to compare.

Hell, Sinner's French Open choke just two weeks ago might rank.

All Fox had to do was back the ball out, run off as much time as possible and get fouled. He could have put them up 3 with maybe 7-8 seconds left.

2026 French Open had 2 choke jobs.

Sinner led 2-0 in sets and 5-1 in the third set. Suffered from exhaustion and dizziness in the heat. Lost 18 of the last 20 games and lost the match.

Aryna Sabalenka led 1-0 in sets and 4-1 in the second set. Lost 12 of the last 13 games and lost the match. 6-3, 5-7, 0-6.

Spurs have titles in their history and have arguably been the best franchise since Jordan retired… whereas the Falcons… don’t

Someone posted this elsewhere but it bears repeating:

The Flyers overcame a 3-0 series deficit and a 3-0 hole (on the road) in Game 7 to defeat the Bruins in the 2010 Conference Semis.

Not for a title, but still.

Falcons were up 28-9 at the start of the 4th! That’s the most impressive part. Not a lot happened in the 3rd.
