You should hear Gridiron Heroes for the Lions.
LINK

quote:

Hail the colors Blue and Silver let them wave.
Sing their song and cheer the Gridiron Heroes brave,
Fighting for fame, winning the game,
Dashing to victory as they go.
(Chorus)
Forward down the field,
A charging team that will not yield.
And when the Blue and Silver wave,
Stand and cheer the brave.
Rah, Rah, Rah.
Go hard, win the game.
With honor you will keep your fame.
Down the field and gain,
A Lion victory!

The Blackhawks annoy me with that Chelsea Dagger song they sing.

You kidding me? There is no creativity, play on words or anything. All the “#____up” of the world are the most bland catchphrases out there. But the Thunder’s is the worst of the bunch.

Oh hell naw you didn't criticize Bear Down!

The backstory is Button Salmon, who was a football QB and on the baseball team in the 1920's, was dying from a car accident and told the football coach "tell the team to bear down." The coach relayed it to the team in a pregame speech and the Bear Down stuck.

I'm an Arizona fan, so I'm very biased, but I think it is a cool, unique tradition that draws from real life. It's our version of "win one for the Gipper."

Criticizing Bear Down is fightin words for an Arizona fan (sort of joking). Here's a link to an article about the origin:

God, after reading the lyrics, I am afraid of clicking the link because I don't want my work computer to catch AIDS...

Stuff like that and Go Cubs Go is wonderful for nostalgia and memories of a time long ago when life was simple. But it should be left as that...as something that we stumble upon on YouTube once every 20 years or so and NOT something that is dusted off and put back into every day use. I am sure the Charleston and the Jitterbug were great dances in their day, but when was the last time you saw someone out in da club doing them?

This is my view.

Teams just throw the word "up" on the end of their nickname and pass it off as a slogan. It happens all the time now and there are like 25 different versions of it on the pro and college level. It's the latest lazy way out.

If South Carolina did it, that's the only one I could really get on board with.

Actually I was going to post that. "Go Spurs Go" was supposed to be a throwaway slogan, but it caught on because SA won our first title that year.
