Wilt is the only arguement

The problem is... that's a pretty fricking good argument

If Wilt lived in today's era he would have to be considered in the GOAT discussion... but he didn't and is not, unfortunately

I'm just happy to be alive and watching what AD is doing now

Admiral was pretty well rounded. Don't think he had quite the mobile coordination(catching the ball on the run, putting the ball on the floor) Davis had.

What about Bosh? Toronto Bosh was pretty damn coordinated.

Yap. I think Bosh would fit that mold. I think he doesn't stand out as much because his athleticism isnt quite what Anthony Davis' is. But he had rarw guard skills for a big man imo

that has everything to do with him not caring to work on them for most of his career and nothing to do with his coordination.

Wilt's career fg% is 54% and he played in an era where he had huge physical advantages over everybody.

Most of what he did was dunks and lay-ups. It's not like he was shooting jumpers out there.

And he shot 54%.

You watch highlights and so you never see his misses. I could make the worst player in the NBA look like an MVP with a highlight video.

Wilt could run and jump, but he could not shoot at all.

Pau is another one. Not a former guard like Davis, but he is very coordinated for a big man.

ok great

We are talking about coordination. Not shooting skills.

Plus its tough to pit stats from then with stats from now. The game was played much differently. Bigs were heavily discouraged from shooting very far from the basket. There was no 3 point line to create more space for bigs to work in down low. Hell, back then you actually had to dribble the ball instead of being allowed to palm it on every down bounce like they do today.

Mid 2000s Tim Duncan was pretty damn coordinated.

He's only 21. Long way to go. With that said, I would not be surprised if in 15 years he was on the Mt. Rushmore of basketball with Jordan, Bron, Magic etc.

... shooting is part of coordination.

Dwight is very athletic but he's not particularly coordinated.

Dwight can run and jump and block shots because he's athletic. Wilt was very athletic. Wilt and Dwight's skills are comparable. They can both run and jump and dunk and block shots and can't shoot.

But I wouldn't call him amazingly coordinated like Hakeem Olajuwon where Hakeem can beat people off the dribble like a guard and hit turnaround fade-aways.

That's coordination.

Just coordination-- then I'd say Ralph Sampson

Again, it was a completely different game. Bigs were actively told to do little more than work the post. There was no 3 point line and very few players that had range to create space like we now have. You had to actually dribble correctly and couldn't palm the frick out of the ball.

Comparing the play of a big from then to now is like comparing a QB from the then to now. The game is just too different to simply say "well this guy wasn't all that great at "X" so he lacked "Y"

Say what you want. Wilt ran the break like a pro (can still find it in video clips) and again... dude played point guard for the Globetrotters. And mark it down as "athleticism," but still... the NBA outlawed breaking the plane of the foul line because Wilt could apparently dunk his free throws.
