Is there a legit movement to have the Houston Texans rebrand to Oilers?

If I recall, Bud Adams had those naming rights - does his family or estate still own them?

Wouldn't it be a no brainer to appeal to old Houston fans as well as tap into the huge retro movement (Astros are a great example in the same city) by reverting to the classic name, colors, and logos?

Any possible version of the old Oilers uniforms would be an instant and tremendous upgrade over the bland and "too many cooks in the kitchen" corporate blah that are the Houston Texans.

It should be. It makes too much sense. If Tennessee would get upset about Houston using the same colors, they could at least change the name and keep their current colors. Just, please, get rid of Texans.

I'm sure this would be a talking point (I remember Al Davis wanted to block the Panthers from having black and silver as two of their colors) - when the Texans chose navy and red there were a ton of teams with those colors as well - Buffalo (now rebranded to royal and red), NY Giants, New England. Hell, even Tennessee has navy and red in their color scheme.

It's not terrible but it's so generic. The Oilers is a much better nickname than the Texans and they have a much more colorful history.

Best jerseys in pro sports. Pisses me and other Houstonians off greatly when they wear them honestly, since the oil derrick logo and Luv Ya Blue was such a big part of the city. I would support moving back to it 100% if it was possible but it will never happen. frick Bud Adams forever

There isn't 1 Houston NFL fan who would be opposed to this.

I couldn't care less about Houston, but I want them to be the Oilers again. I think everyone other than the Adams family feels the same way

the name and history should have always stayed with the original city. Why they never did before the Browns is amazing.

I wished they would rebrand but use the Silver of the Gamblers, the Blue and Red of the Oilers and Texans.

You could get all the pro football teams tied into it that way.
