When the games mean something other than a glorified exhibition then the bowls do well

Sugar Bowl:

The average secondary market list price for the Sugar Bowl is $1,145, and the cheapest ticket available is $605. Both prices have been flat since Sunday, with the average down 7% and the get-in up just 1%. Prices for the game go as high as $13,000+ for seats at the 50-yard line.

Based on the average price and get-in price, this is the most expensive Sugar Bowl since we started tracking the data in 2010.

Don't confuse those hating on New Orleans with facts, Chicken.

There seems to be about 80 bowls now and the attendance doesn't look great on any that aren't included in the playoffs.

since everyone else will want to move the quarterfinals to campus
They need to be on campus. They're asking too much of fan bases to travel to support the team at neutral site venues potentially 3 times within 3 weeks.

The games are going to look like shite on TV when you see stadiums that are only 40% full

The only time you're going to see quarterfinal bowls well attended is when one of the teams is playing in their own backyard...like LSU in the Sugar, USC in the Rose, or Georgia in the Peach Bowl.

I will be curious to know what ticket prices will be for first round of playoffs...

They need to raise plenty money to remain competitive in attracting championship games in the future. History and tradition are becoming secondary to the bidding war.

It should do okay since it’s part of playoff rotation for now. Semis once every 3 years, quarterfinals other 2 years. That’s subject to change of course. No one wants to see Big 12 vs SEC scrimmage.

Let’s be honest here, it’s struggling because of the cesspool that it’s located in.

Are you under the impression the Fiesta or Orange Bowls sell out in years they aren’t a playoff game?

Since it is one of the semi-finals this year, it will probably sell out. I believe they are struggling in the off years.

Just like every other non playoff bowl

People in Nola will argue this, but it's true. City isn't safe at all and it's deteriorating rapidly in all sorts of ways because of the people in power.

Couple things, NOLA is a fricking crime-ridden shithole and not worth really going.

Detroit Lions fans packed the Dome this past Sunday

Is it true? in 2022 there were 280 homicides in New Orleans. So far this year around 165.

New Orleans is not a safe city. That is true.

And it is deteriorating rapidly in all sorts of ways. That is true. Do you think the city is moving in the right direction?

You mean the people who are actually there and don’t just get their NOLA takes from Tucker Carlson?

At the moment, no. I've lived here for 58 years and it was MUCH worse in the late 80s-95 or so.

I'm an ex-pat with most of my family still there, so save me the outsider thing.

My family has some of the biggest Nola apologists in the world. Family been in the area since before it was part of the US. Even most of them are starting to admit it has gotten untenable.

Local corruption has always been there, but now it's paired with astounding incompetence and brazen negligence. DAs office won't do their job to protect citizens, mayor is openly racist and a crook herself, violence (not just murder) seems to be getting worse, school truancy is worse, blight is worse, the core of the French Quarter, which used to be protected due to tourism dollars, has not been as safe as it once was, the police are quitting and I don't blame them, etc.

My aunt has always spoken of the 80s in defense of Nola, saying "this is nothing!" and now she says "It feels like the 80s all over again".

I didn't say it's the worst New Orleans has ever been, I said it's getting noticeably and measurably worse, meaning worse than it has been in recent decades.
