These people are fricking idiots. Lol who said he wasn't a good coach? Like I said since he joined the saints no one else had more wins than him in the league. Also he made a consistent winner out of new Orleans.. Think about that. He took a 2 or 3 win team to the division title game in his first season and brought a super bowl to new orkeans. Just last season in a down year off a season long suspension he took his team to a playoff victory. There's no shame in losing to Seattle at Seattle last year.

Lol also at people trying to play the oh he's onky highly rated by saints fans.. Yet for numerous years now people on the media have claimed him a top tier coach.

People truly only remember the very present.. Enjoy it while you can lol..

Did brian bullick, Switzer, Flores lead the entire league in wins for a 6 year span? Get suspended a season and still take his team to a wildcard win on the road the following?

Nah dude, the defense sucks this year so he's a terrible coach.

That's pretty much the depth of reasoning in this thread.

Not overrated imo. Still one of the best in the league, he just outcoaches himself sometimes...tries to get too cute, predictable play calling, etc.

Look at the facts. His last 4 seasons coaching 13, 11, 13, and 11 regular season wins. 5 in the postseason. There ain't too many out there that can say that.

This year has been tough, but it's still early. We'll see how they look coming off the bye and moving forward

He is extremely overrated but don't tell a bunch of saintards that. Most hard headed SOB in the league. Now people have caught up to the offense. His personnel has gotten old. His D sucks. But Saints act like he is a genius. I want to see what he does with an average QB.

And the HC is responsible for all 3 phases of his team. If his coaches aren't doing well then that's his fault also. I can't even blame poor Rob Ryan when Payton again forced his friends on him instead of letting him hire a new DL AND LB coach just as he did the other 2 previous coordinators. If Rob hired his own gm guys I doubt we'd be having this problem.

A new DL or LB coach would do wonders with a new attitude and personality brought it. Somebody who actually played the game at a high level would do like a Ken Norton does for Seattle or a mike singularly helping here couldn't hurt.

"But hey remember back in 2009!!" - a saints fans favorite phrase. Sadly folk that's irrelevant because in 2014 we fricking suck.

Don't hear packer fans saying oh back in 2010 all the time, let that shite go

And that pussy arse culture of nothing but good guys is getting stale. I wish we ignored some guys past a little more maybe some things would be different around here.

All those bitch arse defensive guys, a few loose screws need to be there. We need some mean on defense hell some attitude anywhere would be great.

don't think i'd call last year "Awesome"... so what if we won a playoff game, we weren't winning the Super Bowl and we knew that before the playoffs now 2011 we were winning the Super Bowl and it took a miracle finish to beat us. that team was awesome

We won a playoff game on the ROAD, which this franchise has never done before. So that was a pretty big thing. We lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion at their home and we played pretty well in the loss.

There is a whole bunch of stupid in this thread. Oh no! We didn't win the super bowl. We suck. Good lord.

Please look at the post above yours, there are facts in it you should read. You know FACTS, those things that can't be refuted.

Here I'll help you:

I know people hate looking at facts, but sometimes it keeps you from looking like a moron.

you're trying to justify it... meanwhile i'm dogging Sean Payton for saying a good team wasn't AWESOME? i'm speaking the truth. why did that game have to be on the road?

In the year 2014 we fricking suck

FACT

Can't go out an beat anyone outside of that superdome. Pitiful

Meanwhile other teams can go out and destroy a team anywhere but we can only win any game in our dome

I don't even think we can beat Jacksonville on the road tbh

Somehow they'd magically look good for that one game

Doubt we'd win by more than 6. Loss, I expect losses anywhere but the superdome

They should help me stop feeling that way by showing the frick up and outplaying the other team in their building

Payton is overrated for what he's known as great for, thread is misleading. He's not a great play caller in the year 2014 or even 2013.

Brees compensates for his idiocy

I think Payton has kind of lost his mojo in regards to play calling. He used to be cutting edge and one of if not the best coach in the league. Now he is kind of vanilla. Brees is fine. He's always thrown interceptions. It's basically a side-effect of his greatness. What's been hurting him lately is his offensive line. He has absolutely no time back there. But let's not assume that because the saints have looked a certain way up to this point that they will continue on that path the rest of the way. Every season is an ebb and flow for almost every team. The Saints are more than capable of gelling and going on a run.
