The thread title is laughable regardless what anyone thinks of his performance in WC.
Became the fastest USMNT player to record 50 goal contributions on Nov. 18, 2024, scoring a brace in a 4-2 second-leg win vs. Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal in St. Louis.
Four-time U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023), tied with Landon Donovan for the most all-time.
Three-time CONCACAF Nations League winner (2019, 2022, 2023) and CONCACAF Nations League Finals Best XI (2021, 2023, 2024)
Scored the winning goal in the 1-0 USMNT victory vs. Iran on Nov. 29, 2022, at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, that clinched advancement to the Round of 16
Awarded two FIFA World Cup Man of the Match honors at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, earning the distinction in the 0-0 draw vs. England and the 1-0 win vs. Iran.
Converted the go-ahead penalty in the 114th minute of the 2021 CONCACAF Nations League Final, lifting the USMNT to a 3-2 victory over Mexico on June 6, 2021, in Las Vegas.
Scored a brace in the 3-0 CONCACAF Nations League semifinal victory over Mexico on June 15, 2023, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, netting goals in the 37th and 46th minutes and earning Man of the Match honors.
Tallied 16 goals and 11 assists across all competitions in his second Milan season (2024-25), earning a second consecutive Serie A Team of the Season selection.
Became the first American to play in a UEFA Champions League Final on May 29, 2021, helping Chelsea defeat Manchester City 1-0 in Porto; also won the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup that year.

Pulisic lacks every ounce of mental fortitude in order to be a true champion.
That pretty much sums it up for me.

Well he is a good player. You could say great professional club team player over the years.
But the hype was unreal and he isn’t a savior. The sports media overhypes everything these days. So I get the idea of him being overrated.

I love how many TDers have become soccer aficionados over the past 3 weeks.
Their hot takes and opinions are laughable.
I began trying to correct them on both the soccer and MSB, but quickly realized it was a waste of my time and temperance.

Not even close. He was unstoppable in game 1 until hurt. But our team kept ball on offense which allows him to make crafty moves. His game is dictated by our backfield moving the ball up and other players making moves.
He was bad in last game but is used to other role players making moves where he can pass and move himself and get passed back to. Mostly when he got ball our team was stagnant or standing still meaning he had to try and make solo moves and he coughed up ball.
/thread
Have to have teammates who are engaged offensively and moving into spaces when they open up. Saw it many times in the other 3 games he played.
None of his teammates wanted to do anything at all in the Belgium game, or maybe more accurately couldn’t because Belgium is a much higher quality team than fricking Paraguay, so CP was constantly trying to do it himself and Belgium would just double him and take the ball away. Belgium knew they could double him for a few seconds because they knew none of the other US players were going to try anything. It was just never going to happen.
A player of CP’s quality can iso on the wing and maybe make something happen against a weaker team like Paraguay or Australia, but he was never going to be able to pull that off by himself against defenders of the quality that Belgium has.

Of all time? Not even close, there are far more overrated examples. Pulisic isnt overrated at all, hes just the best US player and that guarantees a level of coverage and attention great players from other nations wont get.
Pulisic is a good player and one of the most talented players ever in US history.

AC doesn’t pay him because he sucks.
I'm assuming you meant "play" because obviously Milan pays him.
He played 30 games for Milan last year and the reason he didn't play more was injuries, not being benched. He was #5 in most games started for them last year.
He played more and started more games for Milan last year than Leao.
Why post something so objectively wrong?

It looks like he was AC Milan’s leading goal scorer and #19 in the Serie A in 25/26.
We all, including his club managers, wanted him to grow into a leader type player that led on the field sort of like a David Beckham type player. By that I mean not a true forward # 9 or a true midfielder, more of a winger attacker. But the fact is he’s too small and his playing style due to his size and position leads to a lot of injuries. It’s unfortunate and frustrating but it is what it is. It’s what makes Messi and others so good, is how reliable they are.
And yeah at some point it’s not just bad luck in soccer with Pulisic, it’s his mentality and his game management always getting hurt. I think it’s very fair to call him soft at this point.
He has top tier technical skill, but he disappears routinely and then is hurt a lot.

For all his faults, it would be hard to argue he's not the most accomplished American outfield player ever (I'd argue he's the best, but that's subjective and people will ignore play on the field for mentality variables to try to spin it off him).
Landon is not in the conversation b/c he chose to not compete and play in the MLS
Dempsey had a couple years of high-level play in the EPL, but CP has had more (and I believe is still younger than when Dempsey went supernova) in Europe.

I meant pay, but play can go in there as well. My point in saying that was that he is good enough for AC Milan, which means he is a very good player. Don't know how that's objectively wrong?
ETA:
Maybe you misread the tone of my post? It can be read two ways I guess.
Another way to say it is the inverse: "AC Milan pays him because he's really good".

And that pic of Hughes is exactly why he's a champion.
I also think, perhaps, that the Europeanization of Pulisic which was heralded as great work, was actually to his detriment. He hasn't been a full-time US resident since he was like 16. Perhaps for him, winning a Champions league title is more important or impressive than being a major player in the World Cup.
This would, of course, not apply for literally every other international player who bleeds for their country. But maybe it's a thing with Pulisic.

Dempsey gets graded on a curve due to his heart issues, IMO.
All things considered, to me, he's the most accomplished US striker. But Brian McBride never gets mentioned in these conversations, and that's a shame.

Just came out that he sustained a bone bruise and microfracture in his leg during the match
He had a bad tournament to say the least, but based on that you can't fault him for coming out of the game

For his era he was certainly the best, until Landon took off at least, but he's not the same quality of our current team's abilities.

I wasn't hating. He had basically 1.5 years of CP-level play in a real league. If we're talking about accomplishments, that is the data.
