it's not the only reason
the primary reason he was hired was b/c of his recruiting. that's always been the primary reason he was hired anywhere
with Maryland, the secondary reason he was hired was geography (which ties into recruiting)
what his time at Bama did was possibly rehabilitate him in terms of coaching. turns out that offense is a well-oiled machine post-Kiffin

He was such an obviously awful hire. He also apparently has a weekly commitment to analyze the Washington Football Team on a local Sunday pregame show which is a bit odd.
