Yes. One person you never heard his name coming up during the "steroid" era. He has the numbers right? Great player and from what I always read a good guy. Not saying being a good guy should get you in but his numbers should.
The man's biggest scandal was pepper, for God's sake. He's mathematically the best bro ever.

he's a "clean" player from the steroid era,

What could he have been if he had?

Not including the 2 strikes. He missed 553 games over his career due to injuries, and was on the disabled list 12 times. He never once played a full 162 games.

If he had taken steroids in the same manner most players did. Not to get bigger, faster, stronger, but to get back on the field quicker from injuries. What would his numbers look like?

SI did an estimate in 2010 that says he would have finished with around 722 HRs and 3,134 hits. Which I think is a low estimate. Si

ESPN estimated he would have hit 777 Hrs, they didn't estimate his hits. ESPN

On top of those offensive stats. Everyone forgets his 3 Gold Gloves(1 of only 3 outfielders to do so), and that he was the only outfielder in history to be elected to start 13 All Star games.

If he had taken steroids to help his damaged body stay on the field. He would be in the discussion for greatest player of all time. Because he might have earned another Gold Glove as well.

If he did them without being caught, obviously....

Looks the same now as when he played. Who else can you say that about? Top 10 ever.

his injuries were more a function of him not really working out or committing his body to being in great shape

There was another article written at the time Bonds was going for the All-Time HR record that was pretty much all about "what if Griffey had stayed in Seattle?" Same premise, by playing in the AL, he could have been a spot DH, getting rest but still hitting. They estimated that he and Bonds would have been going for the all time record together, and how huge that would have been for the sport.

Bigger than McGwire/Sosa. Especially when you add the good vs. bad, clean vs. steroid angle.

Without a doubt.

I know its a huge if, but if Griffey had not had so many injuries, the home run record would be out of reach now. His swing gives me chills.

Imagine his numbers if he had stayed healthy instead of going all out in games and hurting himself? One of my all time favorite BB players!
