Because that's where championships are won.
its where we have the biggest selection size to determine if he's a good qb.
if you think championships are solely won by the QB position, then you are a victim of the media who wants to call every qb on a super bowl winning team "elite". ...
Russell Wilson went ham against the falcons and lost. So did Ryan vs. the 9ers. It happens every goddamned year if you open your eyes a little bit. Maybe next time you will notice and change your way of thinking.... .. .. .

Flacco over Ryan, but neither is worth $20 mil per.

he should use those intangibles to be a good QB in one of those 80 career regular season games
So he never has a good regular season game?

when your typical season puts you somewhere in the range of the 10-15th best qb stats EVERY SEASON, you aren't very good
So the 10th best QB in the NFL isn't good. 10 out of 32. Doesn't make him outstanding, but being the 10th best QB out of 32 in the NFL is certainly good.

I mean, what's the cutoff for VERY GOOD? Top 10? Top 15?
Also, at what point would you factor in their supporting casts and how those are contributing to their stats?

he has had good games. my point is, he has a big selection size of games to judge him by. Its pretty clear by now that he is isn't close to Ryan and he's he's miles from elite.

I'd put him at 10 or 11. The tough part is deciding whether he belongs ahead or behind some of these young fast QBs. I think those guys are better now but flacco has a larger selection size of data.
either way, 10th best QB isn't bad at all. Its good. But it is lightyears away from elite, and I said "not very good" which i will stick to

Well if he wins the Super Bowl, there is a lot of talk from big heads that say he is taking the next step and should be considered elite. I mean the dude has shown he can win. He gets in the playoffs and wins once he is in. Right now, today, I would take him over Ryan. Ryan might win 2 out of the next 3 Super Bowls while Flacco gets eliminated in the divisional round. If that were to happen I think a lot of the opininos you see here would change. The league is all about what have you done for me lately, and lately all Flacco does is win in the playoffs.

Remember when people were using this same "He wins in the playoffs!" and "He TOOK HIS TEAM to back-to-back AFC title games!" bullshite to try to say Mark Sanchez was a legit franchise QB?
QBs are measured by wins and losses because lazy, simple-minded people can't be troubled with a little elementary research. It is one of the worst cliches in sports.

Matt Ryan is a much better football player than Joe Flacco
Posted on 1/30/13 at 5:56 pm to VerlanderBEAST
Flacco has so much more post season success than Matt Ryan. This is what you are ultimately paying for. So yeah Flacco is better.

I hate to admit it but Flacco is a lot better than Matt Ryan. Flacco isn't really impressive in the regular season but in the playoffs the only other QBs I'd rather have are Brees, Brady or Aaron Rodgers

Flacco has had more post season success than 90% of all QBs. I guess he is better than them to by your retarded logic.

No. Amazing what mediocre stats will get you.
12th best rated QB with 15th most tds this season.

It's all about winning the big games. Flacco wins in the playoffs and has outplayed Brady head to head the past 2 years.

LMAO at "Flacco wins games". Ryan has a better record than him and vastly superior stats.

Seriously, the dude has won with some shite offense talent and Matt Ryan while good has tons of weapons and Flacco ain't got shite and has outplayed Manning and Brady.
I don't think Flacco is elite because he doesn't do shite in the regular season but suck arse. But the dude brings his A game come play off time

you are wasting your time. it's fun. i have done it before and i will do it again. but it's a huge waste.
has the "the falcons have the best WRs and TEs in the league so matt ryan sucks" point been addressed yet? it's the same old story. go look at a thread from earlier this year when asked which team had the best WRs and TEs though. posters struggling to make sure and put the giants or the cowboys ahead of the falcons in that thread.

We are talking about postseason, it's what separates the men from the boys. Flacco rises to the occasion. I like Matt Ryan alot but until he makes a legit playoff run he is a step behind Flacco.
