Burrow's rookie numbers underrate how good he was. Remember, he didn't have Ja'Marr Chase at that point. His receiving corps consisted of a rookie Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, and AJ Green on his last legs and he had a bottom three offensive line. Almost all rookie quarterbacks would have crumbled in that situation. Instead, Burrow looked like a good, veteran QB making the best out of a bad situation. I was just unbelievably impressed watching him play during his rookie year.

Not right now, but he’s very exciting.

Get him some more weapons in the passing game.

Does Washington really have that much more currently? He maybe has 1.1x the talent Burrow did around him.

Well, he has an offensive line that is 13th ranked in pass protection and McLaurin's a very good receiver who was putting up 1000 yard seasons Dwayne Haskins, Taylor Heinicke, Sam Howell, and the corpse of Alex Smith as his quarterbacks. Also, Marcus Mariota made two starts in Daniels' place this year and looked great in both games which tells me that the Commanders have a pretty quarterback friendly offense.

JD just needs to follow that up with a Super Bowl and NFC championship appearance the next 2 years to keep pace

So we are now judging on team accomplishments? Just want to know where we stand

And JD is still currently in the playoffs as a rookie….

Yes and no. I know autists don’t understand context, but a player can be good stats on ok team guy. I.e Kurt Cousins or ok player on good team I.e Joe Flacco

I just don’t understand why so many LSU fans are so ready to crown JD as a top 5 qb after 18 games. He’s had a great rookie year and I hope he’s that good, but comparing him to Burrow at this point is asinine

Burrow had the best season in college history for a QB so...

I would argue that Daniels’ senior season was better.

Daniels: 72.2%, 318 yards per game, 40 tds, 4 ints, 208 rating. He also had 1,134 yards rushing and 10 more tds. He did this without having the best two NFL WRs on his team and with a horrible defense.

Burrow: 76.3%, 378 yards per game, 60 tds, 6 ints, 202 rating. 368 yards rushing and 5 tds. Burrow also played three more games than Daniels.

Probably the two best seasons ever from a stat perspective for a QB. However, no one dragged a team to a national title more than Cam Newton did at Auburn.

Will do whatever you can to justify Allen’s inability to get his team to a superbowl lol

It's kind of insane that we are inferring a college QB was "held back" by having Nabers and Brian Thomas Junior.

Burrow led the worst franchise in the league to the Super Bowl and was one play from winning it in his first full season. He’s been spectacular the whole time he’s been with Cincy.

JD led one of the worst franchises in the league to a playoff win in his first season. He’s been incredible in every way.

Why would anyone compare the two? They are both Heisman winners and both great NFL QBs.

I’m impressed with both and proud they both played at LSU.

Daniels on a path to a good career.

Burrow- just needs more help, signed MSB

I replied to the OP. He said nothing about rookie seasons.

I mean, really?

6/10 years the bengals made the playoffs in the decade before burrow

2/10 years the Skins made the playoffs in the decade before Daniels

That’s just the two teams in this comparison, much less calling the bengals the worst in the entire NFL

Nobody does "prisoner of the moment" quite like LSU fans.

Only Iowa's infatuation with CC tops it.

Its like Burrow's Natty was always discussed like it happened yesterday. It was 6 years ago. So that got old.

So now its Daniels who gets the transfer of affection....because he's the new LSU-NFL connection of hope.

Lol how so?

quote:

He did it with 2 WRs drafted in the 1st round who are both getting votes for ROY. Both of which are top 7 in the league in receiving yards as rookies

Also his defense being horrible actually benefitted Jayden Daniels. He was forced to play the entire game and get into shootouts whereas Joe Burrow destroyed teams and would sit out a good portion of a few games.

quote:

Burrow also played three more games than Daniels

Can't really punish him for winning more games. He still averaged more yards\TDs per game. If JD5 played in those 3 extra games (which would have been against top 5 teams in SEC Champ and in the playoffs) his per game averages would have most likely gone down and he would have thrown another INT or 2 (most likely..)

I love JD5. He had an amazing Heisman campaign for LSU and balling Rookie year in the pros.

But his heisman year is not on Joe Burrows level. Statistically and with the competition Joe faced.

Most colleges would have liked to have had one of them. LSU was fortunate to have both. This discussion seems stupid.
