This was absolutely a thing for I would say about a decade from 2003-2013ish, when SEC defense just had more difference makers on the DL primarily that other schools didn't have. But in the last decade, and especially the last 5 years, they are no different than other teams DLs who are good teams.

I've heard the major difference is other teams are paying players now.

Why do college football fans do this?

It's always been so freaking weird. There would be fans from schools that never won anything saying things like "we've" won X amount of titles in a row. It was laughable

Just remember. Manning couldn’t beat out a mediocre Ewers. And Manning had more Raisin Cane commercials during yesterday’s game than he had completions.

NCAAF has jumped the shark.

2021 Georgia had maybe the best defensive line in college football history.

That's because of rule changes and RPO

The NFL draft says otherwise.

Defenses have been neutered by rule changes and targeting.

Eh, fully healthy they were a very solid defense if I remember correctly

You do.

This year's defensive line might be better.

they were rank in the top 10-15ish pretty much all year. When fully healthy they were absolutely elite.

Do winners of the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, or MLB care or brag about how tough their conference is?

It's irrelevant in pro sports... there is no subjectivity.

It's less and less relevant in college football now with the expanded playoffs, but there is still a subjective factor to selecting the field.

Seriously?

Dude, your Luckeyes just scored all of 14 points and barely gained 200 yards against Texas. The only reason that game was fun to watch is because most of us hate Texas, and your defense made Arch and the Shorthorns look foolish.

You have zero self awareness and should probably stay off the internet for a bit before legit Ohio State fans start calling you out.

I disagree about that defense being “mediocre”

So OSU is SEC Defense Plus then?

A qb with a pulse beats you like a Big osu bass drum in that game.

That said, the SEC - followed closely by the Big 10 - have the most good players, individual units, etc.

Not that closely.

Find a mid SEC team and compare to a mid Big 10 team.

2019 LSU's defense was in the middle 30s in scoring and total defense. That actually makes their national title more impressive because it wasn't statistically a good defense. Some of that was injuries and being far ahead though and giving up yards and points when the game was in hand.
