You know damn well the NFL and pro sports in general just aren't as big of a deal in the south as they are everywhere else - with the exception probably being Braves baseball. But please I hope more white trash Saints fans appear ITT to tell me how much they love the Saints and never waivered on that fandom.

First and foremost, let me preface this by saying it's NEVER okay to switch your favorite college team/program.

Really? Not even if it's your sr year of hs and the team you grew up a fan of hires your a-hole club coach to coach your sport... and you have to look elsewhere to compete?

On the topic of NFL/pro teams in general though - is it ever okay to switch teams?

Also yes. About 4 years prior to my college team switch my city was given an expansion team. Tons of people in the area changed teams. I suspect it happened in the Carolinas as well, if you're old enough.

I'm not old enough - I'm almost 32. Panthers have been around since I was 7 years old. I even had Panthers stuff as a kid.. I guess in high school I liked them because I did tune into most of the games on Sundays. Just never stuck through college. Then they got Cam Newton and that basically was a foregone conclusion they were out of the running.

Real sports fans are fully vested in their team.

The only legit reason is some terrible scandal that makes you not want to be associated with them...like the Penn State thing for example.

If your team(s) move and the closest one left is either in state or the next, then sure, why not ?

I fired the Bengals as my team a few years ago and I will throw hands with anyone that tells me that I’m not allowed to.

I feel like after 28-3 I should be allowed to.. but I guess like others have mentioned I'm not sure how much I was ever a fan to begin with. I mean I made it a point to get the Falcons game on at the bar every Sunday, bought a hat, and liked their social media pages. That's about it?

I would also feel wrong picking any other team not Carolina or Atlanta though.. so maybe I'll just go with no one.

Got a buddy who lived in Baton Rouge and grew up a LSU Fan.

Finally gets his degree after dropping out of Communter Schools. But it's Online University of Alabama.

He becomes a Bama fan and brags about all their championships.

The fricking worse.

Do like me and go teamless. I can just enjoy which ever game is on without being so invested.

You didn't change your allegiance after this:

But you're going to switch teams over a uniform update?

Trust me, i get it. Almost 40 and the Jaguars never were "my" team. Even when bama was hot garbage and the jags were win 12-14 games a year. I just enjoy the college game infinitely more.

Somehow I understand this sentiment even more than the first.

It was more bizarre with NBA teams. Florida went from 0 NBA teams when I was 7, to getting a team in 88 and another in 89. Lots of moving around and back and forth when I was just getting into pro sports and talking shite with classmates. So I totally get your age and the panthers. And speaking of panthers, same song 2nd verse for the NHL. Got teams in 92 and 93. Unsure if any of my friends chose a hockey team until leaving for school or moving for their first jobs. Being in Florida, most still don't care one way or another about hockey.

its not up to you or anyone else

frick whoever you want and root for any team you want

many cucks have been, up until this year, rooting for other teams then LSU hoping to claim they were right all along that ed O wasnt the right coach. shite like that goes on everywhere at every level of sports

anything from shuffleboard to cricket to bean bag toss can have fans who switch sides all the time
