A sport. You're annoyed that the sports network is advertising its broadcast of a sport.

You must fail to see how much money are kicked back behind the scenes in exchange for their obedience. At least that's what I always tell myself, anyway.

Yeah, they're trying to go out of business. they hate money.

Gtfo

I mean, you can say that and be a dick. But it damn sure seems like they hate viewers/subscribers, because they are hemorrhaging them for the last several years and seem to keep making decisions that will only serve to continue that trend.

Serious question here.....

I know this thread is about SJW stuff, but ESPN does some befuddling things outside politics.

Example: Having college gameday at the Masters. Gameday obviously airs on Saturday. CBS has Saturday and Sunday coverage of the Masters. Why would you promote a competing event with your college pregame show?

ESPN aired XFL games, but negatively talked about the product. ESPN airs one NFL game a week and tons of college games, yet their shows like PTI barely talk college sports. ESPN carries bowl games and NBA regular season games but fed into the idea players should sit out those games.

If I was running ESPN, I’d have all the personalities constantly hyping the live events we carry and cover anything we don’t broadcast live at the bare minimum.

They, like so many others in entertainment, are essentially taking a gamble on an assumption: that their old core audience is dying off, and that newer generations will be radically different. They're betting that the future is made up of the Woke. So that's who they're playing to. Time will tell if it pans out of them. But I stopped giving them my patronage 3 years ago. No cable. And no games watched in over a year. And frankly, I don't miss it.

They only respond to corporate advertisers. Their strategy to handle angry viewers is to wait them out. They always return.

I haven’t watched ESPN in 2 years. Probably longer, and I used to watch every day. It’s absolutely pathetic what it has become.

Coincidentally, when all live sports temporarily stopped.

My favorite back in the early 2000s was espn news at 1am after a college football saturday or during the summer to see how many shots Tiger was ahead by, or needed to make up to win on Sunday.

Absolutely. Like you mentioned, they scoffed at the XFL, yet promoted their lead XFL announcing team of Steve Levy and Brian Griese into the MNF booth.

They partner with the NCAA to broadcast many of their championships, yet they let Rece Davis and Jay Bilas travel the country to freely proselytize about the evils of the NCAA and how collegiate athletes should be paid.

Most here don't care about soccer, but they had the Serie A broadcast rights, and did nothing with them except bury matches on ESPN+, or ESPN2 at 5am. Only after losing the rights to Paramount for next season did they put a Serie A game on ABC on a Saturday afternoon, and promote their coverage.
