go look at his stats, he was the best for maybe half a decade at best.
u dont get in the hall of fame for being good at a niche position for 5 seasons

I hope so but I doubt it will happen until a veteran committee or something get involved.
The lack of longevity hurt a him

To add to the conversation, Hester has 14,455 All-Purpose Yards. Just over 10,000 of those are return yards.

He had HOF talent, but he will never get a bronze statue. Too many guys in front of him, with better resumes, who are also on the outside looking in.
Case in point, would be Rod Smith(847 career receptions, 11,500 yards, 2 Super Bowl wins, 3 Pro Bowls and 2 All-Pros)who is considered doubtful to ever get in, but was a much better and more important player

Not even close.

He didn't even have the most all purpose yards of his era in the same niche. He sits behind Josh Cribbs who had 15,453 all purpose yards.

I don’t think he gets in. Brian Mitchell is basically the same career with way more all purpose yards and a Super Bowl ring and he isn’t in.
Nice career, but not HOF worthy IMO.

Yes. He’s the greatest returner of all time. He gets in

Hershel Walker has over 18,000 All-Purpose yards and twice as many TDs has Hester. That doesn't include his USFL stats. Still not in the Hall.

For me, yes.
He was "must see" tv.

Not for awhile. I think he'll be a Seniors Committee guy in a decade or two.
Even then, Brian Mitchell should get in before Hester.

we had this discussion already.
I don't think he belongs and I don't buy the "best at your position = HOF" argument because some positions/specialties are more important than others.
Being the best at something limited doesn't necessarily mean greatness or HOF worthy.
Like being the greatest pinch hitter ever (Lenny Harris) or the best 3 point shooter ever(Steve Kerr) doesn't mean you're HOF worthy
Specialists in each sport may have their place but I just don't think he was good enough for long enough to earn the HOF.

15 years? Jesus. That's just silly.

To me, yes absolutely. I doubt he gets in first ballot, but he should be inducted at some point. He’s the career best at his position and had the ability to change a game any time he touched the ball...and often did so. He’s the only guy to return an opening kickoff for a TD in a Super Bowl which is fitting.
I think of him as a specialist

If you're going to include the best kickers and punters of all time then yes, he's a hall of famer.

Walker very well could’ve had a HOF career had he been allowed to start out in the NFL.

He could have waited...he made his own bed. Because the USFL was paying him a shiteload.
He stated, "I don't know if I would want to play in the NFL unless it was for the two New York teams or the Dallas Cowboys."
Walker wanted instant cash and fame.
But I don't think it really hurts him as much as people think. The HOF committee admitted they used Warren Moon's CFL stats in his favor when analyzing his HOF candidacy.
