Why do people think they're being clever by answering "C" to a question that clearly provides ONLY the choices "A" and "B" as answers?

I say yes. If it wasn't for the hype, he would be a legit candidate. kind of like not making the BCS because you started the year unranked... oh wait

Honestly, I feel like Walker could play a game in the NFL today if he set his beautiful mind to it. Not a season, but at least a game. Still holds the pro record for rushing yards in a season

Anybody who actually watched both play in college, other than AU fans, will say Herschel. It's not really a contest.

I was born in 1982 so I won't try to act like I saw either of them outside of highlight reels.

However, not sure how you can say it's "not really a contest". Herschel got like twice the amount of carries as Bo so of course he has more yards. The only year Bo played in an offense where he was the feature back he put up better numbers than Herschel ever did. He also average like a yard and a half extra per carry (a pretty significant advantage).

For me they are hard to compare because the different styles of offense they played in but I don't know how anyone can say one was so much better than the other that "it's not a contest".

Bo Jackson had 4,575 career all-purpose yards in 4 years at Auburn. Herschel Walker had 5,259 RUSHING yards in just three years.

And this is the truly damning stat in this argument. Better overall athlete? Probably Bo, better runningback? Herschel and anyone who says otherwise is an Auburn fan who doesn't think objectively, so an Auburn fan.

No it's not. Bo basically played three seasons as he only carried the ball like 80 times in 1984. Even technically playing one less year Herschel still had 1,014 carries to only 650 for Bo. Of course he is going to have more yards.

Edited for clarifiication : if he stays for his Sr year, he puts the career record out of reach and Ricky Williams and Ron Dayne probably don't win the Heisman. Dayne for sure.

Herschel Walker also has a national championship ring and two SEC championship rings. He pretty much single-handedly led Georgia to the title in 1980. That puts him over the top in my opinion.

Herschel gave you more, was durable, and the kind of back any coach wants. A power workhorse. As a coach I would take him.

But as a Raiders fan, nobody was like Bo when he was on...the guy was a transcendant flash of otherwordliness. You held your breath when they gave him the ball in the 80's.
