I think you may want to reread the article you are referencing and most likely misquoting.

Not in the past 50 or so years since integration. Over that time Ole Miss leads the Egg by like 6 games. State has been to more bowl games and finished ranked more times since football integration at both schools. Ole Miss is carried by their "Glory" years under Vaught from the late 40's to late 60's when African Americans weren't allowed to play. Yeah, the last year Ole Miss bought a Top 10 and are "supposed" to be good this year. It runs in cycles with both schools. Remember, just two short years ago State won at Ole Miss and finished in the Top 20.

I don't think the Super Conference is going to happen. They can't do it without the SEC and the original core SEC is too bonded to shake things up. Sure Vandy is terrible, but their our terrible dumpster fire litlle brothers. Yes Stae is a perennial 7-5 team, but damn it those cowbells are SEC as it comes. We have to stop chasing dollars and just focus on delivering a great game day experience to the fans. They need to listen to us and not the damn consultants or whomever they are listening to.

A team like Florida playing Vanderbilt as a favorite a couple years ago and getting upset is part of what makes college football special.
In the Big 10, you had Northwestern play for a conference championship a couple times over the past decade or so. That was fun to watch.
As a fan of a Big 10 team, I'd much rather watch my team play Illinois or Northwestern as opposed to Rutgers or UCLA. There's a certain history with these teams that the "new shiny object" just can't replicate.

I mean what's funny about it? Look it up. Since integration Ole Miss and Miss State football are very similar. What's your damn love affair with Ole Miss anyway? I'll give Ole Miss one thing, they are like the Democrats in that they control the narrative and play the social media game to convince fools like you they are something better than what they are, and they do a damn good job of it.

TV execs run the show now.

You haven't won shite since the 1941 season. They won the Sugar Bowl in 2015.

Why did Florida hire an ex-MSU HC? The joke is on Florida.

Same reason Mizzou hired an ex-App St HC.

He shouldn't be.
Major donors like shad Khan big school in state with a major city.
Their donors must not care, they have the money to be competitive in football and bball. And have a lot of talent in state for both.
Not to mention being in close proximity (2 hrs) to the St. Louis area. They talked about starting up a hockey program, but COVID killed that. Nonetheless, like the above poster said, Illinois have themselves to blame and never should've chickened out of the Arch Rivalry game.

He is doing a fantastic job so far with less top players on the roster. Since he has been hired the roster has gotten a lot better with more 4* players and some 5* players. Yet he got his team to a top 10 ranking last year and this year the team is pre ranked at an average 10 from all sport sites. Maybe this current HC Billy Napier will turn out to be a good one for Florida.

6-7 is considered a fantastic job at Mizzou?

If your school is not on the following list, you will be left behind:
Michigan
Notre Dame
USC
Alabama
Tennessee
Oregon
Texas
Florida
Oklahoma
Penn State
Clemson
Georgia
Ohio State
Virginia
Texas AM
North Carolina
UCLA
Stanford
Florida State
Duke
It is all about endowments and academics for the new national stage. That is your super power 20. The rest of us rural, poor or less prestigious academic universities will be picking up the scraps.

I don’t see Illinois as much of a contraction risk. Even without the wins their tv market and alumni base is huge. The B10 wouldn’t leave a geographic hole that big in the center of the conference. The candidates are the private schools and those state schools that share small markets with little national appeal. Vandy and MSU are the main candidates from the SEC.

Just create a minor league already.
Then create an actual college league with real students.

It won’t be funny when current P5 schools are culled from the heard. It will start with a school like Iowa State, Kansas State, Miss State, Vandy or Wake Forrest and continue.
Y’all really think the national powers want Ole Miss or Oklahoma State or Oregon State in the final game plan? No, they don’t.
The presidents need to fix this and quickly - real students need to be the student athletes again - if the nfl wants semi pro - then have a semi pro league.
The current trajectory of college sports will force all but the top 20 D1 schools to reorganize everything from top to bottom.
And Baylor, TCU, Wake Forrest, Vanderbilt, Miss State, Kansas State, Iowa State, and possibly much more prestigious schools will have a real day of reckoning.
