Did Tom Brady ever want to sign with Detroit after Stafford became a free agent following a 30 interception season? In that case, I'm sure the Lions would have happily dumped Stafford.

I love how were going to act like there's this totally unfair set of racist market forces pushing down on black QBs but we don't mention that a guy like Teddy Bridgewater starts 5 games, doesn't look like much more than a game manager and is promptly rewarded with a $63 million contract.

Stafford had 9 less fumbles too.

Not to mention Jameis had more INTs despite almost 500 fewer pass attempts over those 5 years.

These stats are not super similar. Hell the completion percentage is massively off.

The catch is, winston threw 80 of those ints in ONE SEASON. His last season as a starter.

There simply cannot be a bad black qb or Head Coach. Its impossible.

Marvin Lewis wins like 1 Playoff game in 17 years? How DARE you fire him. Tyrod Taylor has one good season in 9 years? Gets talked about like he'd be a franchise qb if we owners weren't a bunch of racists

If Jameis didn’t suck, he wouldn’t lead a team to a 7-9 record the year before a 43-year old Tom Brady lead them to the Super Bowl. If Jameis didn’t suck, he wouldn’t be behind Taysom fricking Hill on the depth chart

The writer of that article has always been an idiot.

And that article is laughable, while being embarrassing.

Sports is a meritocracy. For one reason or another less black people play QB and have been coaching long enough to rise that high. The reasons for that aside, it’s true. If you can win you’ll find your way up.

No one is calling Stafford a top 5 qb.

But the iq and talent between Goff and Stafford is huge. He opens up a lot of thi vs for mcvay.

Using Jameis as a comparison is stupid. He is still in the league, about to get a lot of interest, and payday as well. Stafford is and was better to start their careers as.

I recently did a deep dive on both these guys since I was sure one of them would be starting for the Saints next year

I went into the research HOPING I could make the argument that Winston was as good as Stafford and still couldn’t do it

Article is just flat out wrong in addition to all the other things bad about it

This is just as dumb/biased as the article in the OP, for what it’s worth.

A Black quarterback with the same stats as Matt Stafford through his first five years would be considered a bum, a bust. That QB would probably be out of a starting gig and be a seldom-used backup making little money.

Oh, wait a minute. That Black QB is Jameis Winston.

Did Matt Stafford throw 30 interceptions in one season?

I'd rather not.

His argument compares Stafford to Winston. A black quarterback who not only is still in the league but probably will be a starter next year. This is just more racist bullshite from the media.
