No

Curry is a great player on his own accord. But he can't carry a team. He is in the perfect system/team/position at Golden State.

Curry could probably take any team in the East to the playoffs more or less by himself.

I'm not saying he isn't a top player or even THE top player in the NBA.

But he can't carry a team.

Where he's at now, he doesn't even have to play full games. No pressure to win EVERY game. Media loves him. Fans love him.

If he went to the 76ers, they wouldn't make it out of the first round let alone make the playoffs at all.

He's no LeBron, Kobe (in his prime) or Durant. Those three could carry any team. Hell LBJ did it with Cleveland for years.

This is a guy averaging 32 points per game on 67% true shooting who is pulling up from 35 feet and hitting 3's and you don't think he can carry a team?

What does someone who carries a team do better than Curry? What is this thing that Curry is lacking that prevents him from carrying a team?

He's a shooter and plays average defense.

Again, I think people are underestimating the fact that he has ZERO pressure on his shoulders. That in itself makes it easier for him to jack up all those shots, and play the way he does. I also think people are underrating the Golden State supporting cast. If Curry is the only threat, his shooting percentage goes way down.

You think if the media lambasted him and he took shite for every...single...loss that'd he'd still be the same player?

76er's are already a shite team. Having to trade their best player(s) to get curry in the OP's scenario only makes them worse.

The expectations would be so great, and I don't feel he could deliver. Not on the 76ers.

He is a great player in a perfect situation.

OP scenario doesn't say anything about PHI giving up players. PHI makes the playoffs easily with their current roster adding Curry. As for Curry bring only a shooter then what does that make durant? Iirc curry has a better fg% at the rim than any other guard in the league so he clearly can do more than just shoot.

Do you even watch him play? He's more than a shooter. And yes, he shoots a lot of 3's, but he can get his own shot. He doesn't just "jack up shots" like he's just throwing shite against the wall. He's shooting 45% from 3 while taking 11 three's a game. He's 58% from 2 and takes 9 two's a game. His true shooting percentage is 67%. That's nuts.

James Harden, who is known as being a very efficient scorer with a high true shooting percentage has a TS% of about 60%. 67% is just crazy.

And Curry also averages 7 assists per game.

Tell me, what allows Kobe to carry a team like you said he could that Curry doesn't have?

This is year 3 of the tank. Not 5.

As usual, Philly has said that this is a five year plan and people are whining about how much they suck half way through the plan.

If Embiid is healthy, and they deal Okafor for a 2 or a 3, they could be very dangerous in a few years.
