re: If Brady wins another SB does that put him ahead of Montana as the GOAT (QB)?

Winning championships is an important factor, but in many cases it is the only criteria used and that's a mistake IMO
I have to agree with this....Maybe winning isn't everything....dammit.

Agreed, but its not like a team is going to get the #1 seed because their QB sucks.
The defense has been underrated because of all the big scoring plays they give up. People forget they are 15th in scoring, after completely changing schemes at the beginning of the year. Are they a great defense? No, but its not like they weren't causing turnovers.

The parallels between this years Patriots squad and the 06 Colts are pretty crazy

I'm not doing that all, it just gives a clear view that the overall team was pretty good in the case of NE. That's not a knock on Brady, just a fact. With him they were a count hair away from being 19-0, so clearly he matters. That's all.
I've thought long before this year that Manning (and Marino before him) took teams further than the teams should have gone, only to get blamed for the team not winning, which is unfair.

I just enjoy the Manning face.

That's cool, but be honest, if Manning was the QB in NE in 2001, 03 and 04, they still win those 3 SB's.

Well, if Peyton mouthed off to Rodney Harrison, he probably wouldn't have finished the season

It's just so hard to determine who is better than who just because there are so many things you can't definitively measure.
For example, you can argue Manning is better than Brady because he's been better statistically. But you could also argue that Manning for a longer portion of his career was gifted with better offensive support. Manning had two potential HOF receivers to throw to, a top 5 TE, and a borderline hall of fame running back to take pressure off of him for many number of years. Brady was winning with the likes of Troy Brown and David Givens.
Impossible to know.

From 99-07 Peyton year in and year out had a top 5 supporting cast. but these last 3 years have been uber impressive.

No doubt, when looking at say Montana vs Brady, I suspect it will largely fall along generational lines (Just like Montana vs Unitas). If you are not old enough to have seen Montana at his peek, you're probably more likely to to go with Brady.
I'll leave with this, which will go against much of what I usually argue
But Brady's signature game winning drives ended in FG's, Montana's in TD's
The winner

That's very possible but not widely accepted. Brady winning another one would probably cement the debate.
Montana on New England's team would have 6 rings over the last 10 years.

So he would after a catastrophic knee injury?

Not sure if this is sarcasm but the 49ers from 84-90 had infinitely more talent than any Patriots team has ever had. Their are at least a dozen QBs who could of won the superbowls Montana did from 84-90.

Montana would have gone 19-0 thrown for 60 touchdowns with 30 of them going to Randy Moss!

and there are at least a dozen that could have won the 3 SB's Brady's won so far. He really wasn't special in those years.

A healthy Tom Brady probably would have won it all in 08.

Not really. Especially for that superbowl
