re: If Brady wins another SB does that put him ahead of Montana as the GOAT (QB)?

Credit this to the 49ers front office and the benefit of not having free agency
Which makes the Patriots accomplishments exceptional.

I have a game for Sega Genesis called Joe Montana Sport's Talk Football 2, which means there was a 1st one, obviously. So no, Tom Brady is not the best QB of my time, let alone all time.

LOL the 49ers had Wendell Tyler, Dwight Clark, Roger Craig, Brent Jones, Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Tom Rathman, and multiple pro bowlers on the OL
And the Patriots had Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Corey Dillon, Rob Gronkowski.

And FYI the 49ers defenses were just as good if not better than any of the defenses Tom Brady had
The 49ers D was underrated, but NE had some very good defenses.

Those 49ers teams from 84-90 were absolutely loaded at every single position on offense and defense I don't think its a stretch that they could have carried a guy like Brad Johnson to a couple superbowls.
And Brad Johnson could easliy have done what Brady did in 2001 which was drop a ball that was ruled incomplete and watch Vinateri kick 2 amazing FG's in a driving snowstorm, sit out more than half of the AFC CG in favor of Drew Bledsoe and move the ball 30-45 yards so Vinateri could kick a game winning FG.

most of the 49ers roster remained the same during those Montana years
Not true, only 3 or 4 other guys won all 4 of those SB's and they had a different HC for the last one.

Also, he had a bunch of HOFers on those teams
Ronnie Lott, Fred Dean and Jerry Rice are the only guys besides Montana in the HOF from those teams. Only Lott was there for all 4. WE don't know who besides Brady will make it, but Seymore, Brushchi and maybe Harrison have good shots.
As far no free agency and keeping teams together, that works both ways. While the 49ers were able to keep a core in tact, so where other teams of that era. I'd argue, that while overall players today are better, teams were better back then, because they were able to keep teams together. no free agency means you don't lose players, but you can't add players either. The Patriots didn't have to deal with teams like the Redskins and Giants that won multiple SB as well.

Montana isn't the greatest QB and Brady has already passed him
This...5th post! Why is the thread so long?
How can Brady be the best based on team accomplishments when its all staged right? I mean clearly its not just a coincidence that Eli and Brady are in the Super Bowl in Indianapolis now is it?

Joe never turned the ball over, none of Joe's SB were even close,
I'm saying Montana
Yep. Some people need to do a little research. Montana's stats SKYROCKETED compared to his regular season stats when he reached the Superbowl. He was the best gamer in NFL history.
Compare his Superbowl stats to Brady's. Compare the change in Superbowl performance versus the regular season for both of them. There is no contest. Thanks.
