Serious question- Why do you consider UL-Monroe to be ULM but ULL to be the "University of Louisiana"? Is there some determined higher academic, financial or research ability that grants your school "flagship" status over the "UL at" schools?

In all honesty, I don't give much of a shite about the name situation. I'm not sure why so many around here get their jimmies rustled over "Louisiana" and "UL". But they do, so I poke at that fire. Most around here say UL because ULL doesn't flow off the tongue like ULM, plus the L or Lafayette portion is unnecessary. When we say UL, people around here know what you mean. Its just easier.

where did I say anything about flagship status? The term UL is used colloquially among locals, students and alums. You're reading too much into it.
