Boosters stuck him w/a QB who would struggle in the MAC. No coach is overcoming being handcuffed to Underwood.

It's like when Penn State kept hoping Hackenberg would happen.

Sumrall definitely was the worst hire last offseason

Whittingham Is a fantastic coach. This is just him tearing it down and instilling his culture. That takes some time He's going to win there, just not this year.

He wanted to retire for years

He’s old

Seems to me he most likely wanted one more paycheck than actually turning UM around

Paying that QB what they did - ain't working out is it? He definitely is not earning it and I would be willing to bet the other kids on the team not making nearly as much aren't too happy about it - and that stuff has a ripple effect

No, he was a stop gap hire

And its not his fault he got saddled with an over priced below average qb.

Undersomething is not good, not at all. Michigan should show some sack and bench him.

It's barely his first year lol. Give him time to build the roster with his players. Underwood is terrible

It's probably a complete overhaul from the shite show that was there before. That takes time.

Either that or it’s a Brian Kelly to LSU situation. Padding his bank account somewhere he believed he could sleepwalk to 9+ wins a season.

I was always leery. He announced his retirement from Utah before UM job came open (and there were other open positions out there that he said he wasnt interested in). At his age, it was pretty obvious he was out and it sounded like it took a lot of convincing to get him to go to Ann Arbor.

It may work out, but I wouldn't be shocked if he bailed at the end of the season.

I think all of this is intentional. Whittingham was retired and Michigan threw the bag at him to come “stabilize” things.

They were in a tough spot and missed the coaching carousel, so they did what they could. I believe it was never a goal set between Michigan and him to be super successful ala win the conference etc.
he's just getting them through a rough patch and they’ll make the hire they want to and give him a fat sack of cash to sail into the sunset.

Utah was glad to be rid of him.

Eventually you all will learn that recycling some old geezer who used to be good doesn’t work out in today’s game.
