With horses out that puts Baeza in, that's a good horse.

With 12-1 odds (I think), good bet too

He’s goi gbto probably get bet down to about 7-1 or so with all the hype made about him possibly getting left out.

Racing odds aren’t fixed.

Looks like Sovereignty's odds are going the other way, that might be a good bet

And just to take a flyer on a longshot...Flying Mohawk. Has never run on dirt. 34-1, but a lot of people seem to like the horse a lot

For a long shot I'm taking #3 Final Gambit (30-1). Late kick, doesn't need to get out in front of the cavalry charge.

If I'm playing it safe, I'm going with #8 Journalism (3-1) for obvious reasons.

Maybe an exacta box?

If I try a tri, I'll add in with either #16 Coal Battle 30-1 for his late speed (although I didn't like his last outing) or #18 Sovereignty 5-1 has late speed as well.

I tend to shy away from the ponies that need a fast start against such a big field. But if they do, watch out.

The opposite is true with dog races. Always bet the ones that get out ahead of the pack and out of trouble. I miss the dogs. Had much better luck with them than the horses.

I made it to the dog track in Memphis before it closed. I bet a brindle every race I bet

I did not win. I love greyhounds

Sandman, won the Arkansas derby, took third at Rebel stakes and second at Southwest stakes.

Only won the Arkansas Derby because the pace was set insanely fast. If you look at the splits, he basically walked to the finish to win when everyone around him crashed. I may eat some crow on this one, but he’s on my list of horses with zero chance.

I think you are wrong. He is only getting better with every race and the distance will suit him.

I think Secretariat will win it. Probably go on to win the Triple Crown, too.

Coal Battle is a long shot at 30-1 … I’m gonna put $10 down to W, P, & S

Purchased for $70,000 and probably the cheapest purchase price of Derby horses. 72-yr old trainer from Opelousas as this his his first grade stakes winner and Derby entry. Spent most of his life working in the oilfield until he decided to train horses.

Great feel good story about the horse and trainer

Am I the last person to hear this? Just heard on the radio that every horse in the race is descended from Secretariet.
In that sense, yes, he wins today.
