re: I just saw the controversial Georgia Texas PI breakdown

But the only reason they overturned it is because they reviewed and non-reviewable play by looking at the replay on the stadium’s big screens. That’s not right.
Refs did that during the 2000 LSU/Alabama game in Tiger Stadium after incorrectly giving the ball to Alabama.

But the weirdest was still to come. With just over 7 minutes left and LSU up 23-21 we saw the dawn of instant replay in the SEC. Davis muffed a punt, and despite Erin Damond clearly jumping on the ball in full view of the crowd and pulling it out of the massive scrum that ensued, the officials seemed to have no idea what just happened. As the referees huddled up to figure out what was going on, one was clearly signaling an Alabama recovery, but as all parties involved were pleading their cases, the head referee Steve Landis (who, coincidentally, is now a conference replay official) appeared to sneak a glance up at the score board video monitor, which was replaying the muff and recovery. LSU kept the ball, and went on to score the decisive touchdown. It's still one of the funniest things I've ever seen a referee do in a game, and the conference has since passed a rule on home scoreboard operators running "any replay that might embarrass the officials." Because yeah, it was all the scoreboard operator's fault.
LSU's first win over Alabama in Tiger Stadium since 1969.

No that should’ve been a 15 yard penalty assessed after the return.

I love how fans are still in denial that the SEC blatantly fixes games.
This has been going on for decades. In the past, you could file your complaints of game fixing to a Bama alum who would gaslight the frick out of you.
Now it is a whole different group of crooked fricks. It is beyond laughable that anyone could look at this objectively and say it is all on the up and up or it is just "small mistakes".
Now, sit back and relax while the SEC gaslights you (again). Tune into the NFL today and watch even more game fixing and gaslighting.

Regardless of how, the right call was made.
No, they broke rules/protocol by reversing the call. You simply aren't allowed to do that just because fans threw trash.
The fact that no delay was called on the fans is the biggest shitshow I've ever seen in that aspect.
Not only did they not punish Texas, but they reversed the call?
LOL at UT. They still got skull fricked and were exposed back to reality.

The right call would have been to stick w/the original bad call b/c it isn't a reviewable play, penalize the fans for throwing shite onto the field, and then to have that entire section of fans removed from the stadium.

Not a good look for their 1st season in a new conference.
Imagine going from the big big dog in a conference to just another team. Like if alabama went to a new conference and big calls started going against them.

Was not definitely holding. The receiver grabbed him. Regardless of how, the right call was made.
In what universe are we reversing non reviewable penalties on the field? Are we to expect more bad calls to be reversed after the fact?

They do pick up flags all the time once a conference happens.
The problem here is they didn’t huddle up on it and then did huddle only after Texas fans threw shite on the field.

I wish ESPN and the SEC would just go ahead and separate from the rest of the sport.

In the perfect world nothing would have ever been called and Texas would have had the ball on the UGA 9
The end result was Texas having the ball on the UGA 9
The way it happened was bad but the end result is what should have happened if everything was called correctly

Surprised Kirby kept his composure enough to not shove any players or officials....

no it’s even worse because they did huddle for at least 30 seconds before making the call the first time, which is why the SEC explanation is just a straight lie
-they threw the flag
-huddled as an entire crew
-called PI
-moved the ball up 15 yards and moved the chains
- while they were marking the ball they showed the replay on the screen for the first time and Sark and fans went ballistic
-UGA starts to line up over ball when first beer can was thrown
-more stuff started getting thrown in end zone and refs blow the whistle and teams clear field and they start to clean up
- after clean up delay, the refs were huddling again when they they announced “oops nevermind”

No, this is the problem with it, PI is not reviewable and as such can not be reversed well after the call when the fans say so and throw shite on the field.
The wrong call is made hundreds of times a weekend, you move on and play the game.

It was so bad, the entire ordeal. The refs should never call another game in the NCAA, period.

Would like to add Targeting needs to have 2 different calls accidental vs Intentional.
Not every hard hit needs reviewed
Easiest way to cut down targeting penalties would be to call it on offensive players who duck their heads, too. If offensive players didn't duck their heads, we would see far less helmet to helmet contact and these spineless refs wouldn't feel the need to throw a flag every time there is a hard hit.

Kirby also mentioned the initial call was holding not PI, PI can be picked up holding cannot.
This isn't even true lol
Kirby was signalling holding but the call was PI

If the LSU defense needs a breather to regroup I don’t see any reason to not throw shite on the field
How that wasn’t a 15 yard penalty is beyond comprehension
