I'm thinking I might take a double covered Dirk over a wide open Brian Cardinal any day. Sometimes the defense pushes the shooter outside of the 3 point line and everyone is covered, then the only shot is a long prayer.

And hero ball is just standing around with the ball at the 3 point line and hold the ball until the last second and put up a usually well-guarded shot.

But but Bron can't win MVP unless he makes some final shots at the buzzer

He might surprise some people and pull down that DPOY too!

I think Marion has a pretty good shot. He is a hoss of a defender and can cover from the 1 all the way to the 4.

I wish he would get DPOY but I think its going to Chandler. He pretty much changed the knicks defense to being completely terrible, to being pretty good

I truly hate hero ball which Wade and Lebron

It baffles me that they never run a 2 man set with them 2 late in games.

They always iso wade or bron and the other guy stands in the corner and never moves.

The way they run their late game plays, they would seriously be better off subbing out the one not getting the ball for James Jones.

The iso is what creates the hero ball. In theory, you want to get your best player with a one-on-one matchup near the end of the game. But their iso was usually near the top of the key, or at least it was against Dallas last year. If they worked it around and got it lower, just the threat of Wade, Lebron, and Bosh would keep a lot of teams off kilter, which I think they have done a better job of this year.

That's exactly what they ran last playoffs. Over and over. They ran it in the Finals too. They don't do it during the regular season though.

I wish that teams would just run their normal offense in the last possession and take the best shot possible whenever it arose.

my most hated thing about basketball bar none. why the frick do they do that? if it's the smart play, then do it all game. since it's obviously not, why dont they just play normally?

Risk aversion. Less chance of bad passes and turnovers. Better chance of making sure you have last possession instead of scoring too soon. Less reward, but less risk. One day it'll change.

There are some teams/coaches that are still trying to grasp the benefit of 2 for 1 opportunities... It's going to take time before the differences between 1 ppp in normal offense and .8 ppp in isolation make it down through the league.

Not enough lol.

Hell, even Lebron's big shots against BOS and CHI(And there were quite a few of em), most of them that I recall were just long jumpers off of Iso sets late in games.

All on what you think the MVP is. I think it should go to Paul...The Heat without Bron is still a 50+ win team (in a normal schedule year). Paul has transformed the Clippers

it's like late 90s early 00s ball: minimize possible mistakes. a turnover is a killer there and basically ends the game

can't argue this if it's going on actual most valuable.

I'd prefer it to just go to the best player, personally.

When Paul is on the court this year, the Clippers outscore their opponents by 7.6 points per 100 possessions.

When he's off the court, they get outscored by 10.2 points.

That is insane, and I'd imagine it has to be the biggest disparity in the league.

I totally agree with this...but we all know the MVP isn't for the 'most valuable' player to his team. Dwight/CP3 would hav won the past 5 years

Lebron knows the answer to this question.
