This is the problem with modern college ball...
No one is worth hating any more. Man, I still hate every Duke point guard who slapped the floor as if that was playing defense. But we just don't get those great four years of building up hatred for a guy. Now, guys who are good enough to be worth hating just show up, play one or two years, and go pro.
Sports hate is fun. And I'm sad that I don't hate Okafor. In fact, I rather like him. We've lost that fun bit of college hoops. And, to be honest, I hated Bobby Hurley MUCH more than Laettner. But real life intervened on that one, and it's hard to actually hate a guy who lost his pro career due to a serious car accident.

It is was harder for a football player to be hated. They have helmets on and the trash talking and dirty play is harder to spot by the fans. Richard Sherman is the only football player that I can think of who has gotten Laetner level hate

Manziel without the team hardware perhaps. He definitely had the same cocky punk privileged perception going for him
