He is redefining the position based on his previously unseen athletic skill combination of high, arched, accurate almost unblockable perimeter shot in player with his size and strength. And his ability to control the ball with his hands that most players would lose control of is just unbelievable. He’s successfully playing offense like a small forward with the body of a 7 foot offensive lineman. Like Barkley had the stature and strength to maintain position and soft hands. No one ever said or complained about Barkley’s lack of quickness.
He is doing to the center position what magic Johnson did to the point guard position, showing a skillset at a much bigger size that hasn’t been seen before that no one would believe existed without seeing it first

Editing to say don’t know if you can say he is top ever center because his game style is so non-traditional for the position. But clearly a player that the other team has to game plan around

lol

He’s going to win 3 MVPs and a championship. How exactly would he not qualify?

Dude has 3 MVPs and should have 4 in a row. You're a dumb arse. The basketball GOATS (Jordan and LeBron) have 5 and 4 respectively.

He's the best passing big man of all time.

Unlike most American-born players, he's fundamentally sound and he doesn't waste motion.

He's got incredible touch.

His game is not predicated on athleticism so it should age well offensively. He may struggle on D.

He's almost like Larry Bird - just smarter and more gifted than anyone else on the floor.

Because most of the product and competition is shyt at his position. Defense is shyt now, coaching is shyt now. His iq seems to be above most of the others on the court

oker is nowhere near as strong, quick or as explosive
Jokic is strong as frick, but he's not as quick or explosive as any center in the NBA. He is infinitely more skilled, though. If you don't think he has elite footwork and post moves, you don't know what you're watching.
quote:

Also Ignoring that a 180lb guy has consistently guarded him in this series
Jokic has averaged 30/15/6 with 2 steals and a block this series That's certainly one way of "guarding him." Also, Chet isn't even the primary defender. It's been Hartenstein most of the time. (7'0, 250)
quote:

Zubak, a player with very little skill, dominated him on offense in their last series.
Zubac played to his averages in that series.

Your "old timers are better" shtick is tired. Jokic is the most skilled big man of all time and it isn't particularly close. He's the best passing big we've ever seen(one of the best passers of all time), best shooting center ever, and has been surrounded by less talent than any other top big (in this discussion) in history.

Wait, I was told defenses are sooo much more sophisticated than the bad old days.
What's the story?

Disqualifies everything you’ve said. My posts in this thread prove your statement is false. As for you, you’re the typical paper fan who doesn’t know anything about basketball.

To ignorant people I don’t doubt it. It’s the usual posters who have zero knowledge of the NBA beyond 5-10 years ago submitting personal attacks and emotional outrage.

I didn’t say he wasn’t good or great. I said he should be mentioned among the greats but there are a handful of guys that were better who are kind of lost in the shuffle. Thats why when you brought up the players from the 60s I didn’t want to include them. Those are guys who aren’t as good but put up numbers and have accolades where the context gets lost by guys like you who only know how to regurgitate box scores and don’t really understand the game or how applicable skills function within the game.
