First sponsored bowl was the Miami/Pedo St Fiesta Bowl in the 80s. Apparently Sunkist didn't pay anything up front but instead helped out with advertisements.

Case in point, today we have the Transperfect Music City Bowl. I don’t even know what a Transperfect is.

Did you look it up? If so, mission accomplished for TransPerfect.

You can spend a million bucks making a commercial and buying commercial time on a national network.

Of you can spend a million bucks sponsoring a game, fly all you execs and best clients to the game and have a great time, etc.

Pretty sure Duck Commander ended up not paying a dollar to be the Indy Bowl sponsor that one year.

Where are you getting this number from? The NY6 bowls split money from the Playoff Revenue Pool.

That's the CFP playoff money not the Orange Bowl payout...two separate deals even thought they're part of the playoff

I’d definitely sponsor a bowl game if I was in a Brewster’s Millions situation.

I don’t get why bigger companies don’t sponsor bowls more. Seems like a pretty modest investment to get some goodwill for your brand. For example, It made a lot more sense for Belk to sponsor a bowl than some regional mayonnaise company.
