He also stole 514 bases, and easily would
Have stolen a whole lot more had he not bulked up later on. Only member of the 500/500 club and no one else is close in that level on the steals with any significant hr tallies.

Griffey was a fabulous player, but there is a big gap between 1 (bonds) & say, 25 or 30 (Griffey)

Not really, Bonds started having knee pain in 1998 and had his first knee surgery in 1999. He was never a true threat to steal after the 97 season.

Look at their numbers from 92 to whenever you think Bonds starting juicing

He was clearly better

Unbelievably, there are people here that think Bonds would have broken the Homerun record without steroids.

He was the best player in an era where roids were prominent . There’s nothing you can say to change my mind that he’s the best of all time

I'm old enough to have seen him throughout his prime. There's no doubt in my mind that he's the GOAT. It's a shame his record is tainted with an asterisk.

He was great and unfortunately we just don't know how great he actually was thanks to his steroid use.

His value stats after 35 are 60-80% higher than the next best player. The steroids allowed him to take the skill of a 15 year veteran and couple it with the athleticism of a 24 year old.

I think Willie Mays is the greatest player of all time.

What? Did he start a fire? What does that have to do with baseball?

Thank you. Like I mentioned we will never know...but we do know before PEDs...he was NOT on Griffey level. He was no Mantle. Shite if you gonna nerd, he wasn't close to Rickey and war.

Why this board has a boner for Bonds is weird.

You can't be GOAT if you're never considered the best in the game until you get a Drive-In movie forehead because you're snorting horse tranquilizers and Dino Jurassic Park shite.

His Paul Bunyan stuff doesn't count. And that's why he's lauded in with the greats. But it doesn't count. Griffey was better. I bet he could throw out Sid Bream. Considering Griffey could make it from 1st to home on a double.

I actually think through their age 30 seasons they were quite comparable from an OPS and WAR. Griffey had 15-20% more ABs pre 30's but then succumbed to injury and was never the same.

He should be in HOF. Great player and maybe best hitter ever despite steroids.

Bonds is 34th all time in career stolen bases. Griffey is tied for 200th. Try again, dumbass.

People in this thread are talking as if Bonds was some above average, forgettable player before 2001 and that couldn't be further from the truth.

Wrong on both counts, My Man. Are you trying to Troll?
Not only did roids turn the Record Books into shite, the guys who suffered from the cheating the most were the fringe players in AAA that would have been in the Majors if guys of equal talent in their own organizations hadn't been taking the MLB jobs at the end of the bench because they were roiding up.
Be happy, dude. That's way more of an explanation than some Troll wannabe deserves.

Griffey's very best season was probably 1997, his MVP year. He had a 1.028 OPS that year. From 1986-2000, Bonds beat that OPS seven times, including in 1997.

You do realize that MLB has tested for steroids since 2004?

Why would a guy with a fully guaranteed $325 million risk suspension?

Perhaps you have a link to where Stanton has even been accused of steroids?
