The NBA and investors make it work. They lose money and daddy keeps them supported

You realize a bunch of major networks and streamers just got in a massive bidding war for the NBA rights, correct?

The NBA is doing fine from a monetary standpoint, no matter how many metrics Clay Travis cherry picks on X for clicks.

What’s fascinating is how the WNBA has turned into such a political issue because it has been taken over by Marxist lesbos and malcontents.

It’s so not about just females playing a game with a ball.

Which is why they hate Caitlin Clark. She ruins their whole plan by making it watchable.

Watchable? Ha no

is the NBA really able to subsidize them to the point where they literally never have to turn a profit? Who is really paying for this shite?

The NBA pays for it, and they strong arm their broadcasting partners to vastly overpay for WNBA TV rights as a gateway to having access to their broadcast rights.

If you think the NBA is struggling financially, you simply aren't familiar with the finances of the league. They had over 11.3B in revenue last year, and while profitability varied among teams. Even in the COVID season, the NBA averaged a 25M profit per franchise-- normally, it was 3x that level, and that's before the latest TV deal made it even more lucrative.

They can subsidize the WNBA with relatively little pain, so they do. The moment WNBA players complain about pay and resource parity, though, the NBA privately nips that shite in the bud.

Imagine wanting to be taken serious as a basketball and your players show up to work like this.

It is paid for via profit sharing from the NBA.

Hence why I think Angel Reese and others are fricking insane for threatening to strike over pay because the league makes no money and any further funding of it outside of a new TV deal would be based off taking more money from the NBA players.

It’s no worse than half the NBA players showing up to work like they’re dressed to go dick shopping.

Can't believe every Clay Travis and conservative media says. The NBA is doing well financially. They just got a huge TV deal.

It’s not that, at least for me. It’s the fact that the media pushes it so hard when it’s such a bad product. Women’s basketball is just awful - at all levels.

There are some women’s sports that are marginally watchable - volleyball, softball, tennis, etc.

But women’s basketball is beyond bad and yet the media portrays almost equal to a men’s sport.

It was never taken over by Marxist lesbos and malcontents by the way.

It has *always* been their home. In surveying their own fans, the WNBA identified that the league's active ticket holders were overwhelmingly lesbian-- something like 60% of the season ticket purchases were by self-identifying lesbians. I want to say that was in the first decade of their league.

I’ve convinced myself the only reason the WNBA is around is to serve as a tax write off for the NBA and its owners.

Not to mention, the WNBA is trying to manufacture a Clark/Reese rivalry to get more people to watch
