A dad on my son's baseball team used to pitch in a fast pitch softball league and still throws about 70 mph. From 46 ft away it looks like it's coming 100 mph and moves like a son of a bitch. It will rise, sink, break toward you or away from you. Mix in an off speed and you have no chance. I think he struck out everyone 3 times before anyone made contact. If you think you can stand in the box and hit off these chicks you are nuts.

lots of the break comes at the end.

Well no kidding the break comes at the end of the pitch. We don't need to move the mound 20 feet closer because in the MLB they pitch from 60 feet 6 inches. If we are comparing strictly the amount of movement on a pitch, a softball does not get "more movement than any MLB pitcher could dream of getting". Does the ball move more in the first 43 feet in softball? Yes it does, but in baseball they get the extra 20 feet so why the hell would we say move the mound in 20 feet closer. That's like saying if you move the softball mound back 20 feet the hitters would have a lot more reaction time and the pitch would be easier to hit. I agree that the OP is either a troll or complete dumbass (possibly both), but in terms of inches of makbreak on a pitch, an MLB pitcher gets every bit as much movement as a softball pitcher from their respective mounds.

I'll venture to say that I could easily guarantee making solid contact with the ball every at bat (assuming I'm given a halfway decent pitch to hit) the ball is huge. It's bright yellow. And even the fastball is slow

Im obviously late to the party here but I can say you have no idea what you are claiming. I remember when I was in HS a teammate and I went over to the softball teams batting cage to see how hard it really was to hit. Holy hell we ended up feeling stupid because its a totally different pitch than anything we were used to. The hardest part is the fact that the ball is typically rising where in baseball the ball is sinking. Add in the fact that the pitcher is alot closer than you are used to.... Yeah you just have no idea.

I've faced both and I don't think softball is as difficult as everyone else makes it out to be.

As a former college baseball player, and someone who played mens fastpitch softball(same version as womens), hitting a softball was harder. It took alot of getting used to the fact that the ball was coming in with a different spin and angle. Not as much time to adjust.

I think I would just hack as hard as I could bc of the short fences, if I made solid contact, it'd probably be a bomb...
So I'd probably be 5/200 with 5 bombs

Some of you guys are really dumb. A 12 year old girl is gonna strike me out? Give me a break. Oh and Albert Pujols (one of the top 5 purest hitters in baseball) won't be able to hit a ball the size of a cabbage? Get the frick outta here
