It is the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball.

It is for children.

Tickets are 35-45 bucks
It is entertaining for kids
It isn't great baseball, but the entertainment is more important
It is meant for the TikTok 15-second generation

I saw a video of the Texas team… lots of borderline homosexual stuff. Sure they have gay following and women.

Reading through this thread I have a new appreciation for the “everyone is autistic” kick our society is on.

After this thread I went and watched a few innings of their game last night, before this I was completely unaware they weren't just a regular minor league team (although I had heard of the Savannah Bananas a ton)

The coordinated dances and intros are definitely cringey and could be done without, as well as a lot of the pre-game festivities. The whole "trick play" count is stupid and unnecessary.

But I will admit, there's parts of it I like more than regular baseball. The loosened up atmosphere amongst the players, if the fans catch a foul ball it's an out, the no bunting or leaving the batters box, the strict 2 hour time limit, and having the pitchers mic'd up talking to the guys in the booth while pitching make it more lively to watch on a screen than boring MLB games.

If they cut down on the gay dancing and showmanship amongst some other things, I could see this becoming something that replaces minor league teams all over the country.

Being in Savannah we go 3-4 times a year for the kids. It’s not baseball but the kids have fun and it’s fun for the adults to have a few drinks and enjoy the “show”

No that would be traditional baseball. This is a lot more entertaining

can't believe they sell out major-league stadiums.

They sold out Clemson stadium. About 83,000 people. I don’t get it but good for them.

All of the players played some form of college, some were on some teams, where they were downright bad. However, they can be entertaining

I've been to several minor league games - and even a couple MLB games - in Arkansas, Texas, and Florida.

And honestly, it becomes somewhat of a chore to make it through an entire game. Especially if you have a kid or kids with you.

In the near future I think you'll see a lot of minor league teams that are struggling switching over to this format, or at least adding a banana ball team to their home venue

it's not my thing, i tried to watch the pregame, and the player announcement, and it was cringe, but i can understand why people like it. Just not my thing.

it was hot as ballz, and they packed Busch III for 2 games.

Minor league teams can’t just decide on their own to start calling a batter out when a fan catches a foul on the fly. I can only imagine someone telling Kade Anderson that once he hits Double A, he will need to learn dance moves.

I’m sure the Dominicans and other Latin stars are chomping at the bit to wear cutoff sleeves, pink jerseys.

The Bananas are niche, and very good at the entertainment brand they’re trying to get out there. They may have an entire league that does this, but it’s purely entertainment. Nobody is bailing out of affiliated ball to do this.

You'd be how profitable they are thou. Locals pay big ticket prices. Their marketing team is slick enough to get local food real cheap by pushing you into some discounts after you agree to a budget and start making the food. You're thinking you'll be left hanging with the food so you have no choice. I know this first hand, not rumor.

It's pretty obvious this is meant for kids. Lol @ anyone getting upset about it. The kids love it.
