2015 Kentucky had 6 players drafted and 4 of them were taken in the first 13 picks along with having a top 3 college coach of all time. shite happens in a single elimination tournament and sometimes the best team has a bad night

Because the tournament bracket setup does not result in the best team? It's 6 games...it isn't representative but it makes for good TV.

Single elimination tournament so the best team doesn’t always win.

What was most surprising is they played like shite the entire tournament and didn’t even make the final 4.

What makes it even stranger is how dominant they were opening night against Kentucky and they beat the national champs twice en route to winning the acc.

Because they shot terrible from 3 and honestly should have lost to UCF because Zion sucks at FTs

Because he understood that to get the most out of the other two, he would have to play Zion in a sub-optimal role; I still think they win the title if they tailor their play to Zion's game, but in a one and done tournament format, there are no guarantees.

Because it’s more difficult to win a single elimination tournament, even with talent, than it is to win an NC in other major sports.

This. This is why the NCAA tournament is loved by non-sports fans so much because the best team can lose a single. If you played best of sevens in college basketball like the NBA, the best team is more likely to win, but you lose the upset and excitement. As a fan, it's a win, as a player or coach, if you're the better team, you hate it.

I think they lost prior to the championship game. That's how it works.

Kentucky 2015 feels their pain.

They didn't even win the regular season ACC championship or even get to the FF. Dook also had a similar draft in 2018 and didn't win anything.

If you ask me, K's reputation as the world's greatest coach and "Leader of Men" is taking a hit in recent years.

They weren’t drafted because of what they did in college. They were drafted because they are one year removed from being the best prospects in high school.

The fifth pick in the draft played for a team that went 0-18 in conference and its not like they were even a .500 team with him.

They were 4-1 with him FWIW

4-0 if you don’t count the game he was hurt in

The NCAAT is why I don’t want the CFB playoff expanded

And why I like the EPLs season model the best of all sports

they had great PLAYERS, but basketball is a TEAM sport... it always has been, it always will be... players, even the great ones, have to learn how to play alongside each other to maximize the potential of the TEAM...

Because #1 was the reason they were any good at all. Just look at how they looked while Zion was out vs when he was healthy.

No clue...I know when we had three in the top ten we won back to back titles with that talent.

Because as exciting as March Madness is it's a stupid way to crown a champion in basketball.

How do you not know as a UNC fan that the tournament champ is the conference champ in the ACC?

This. Zion, Barrett and Reddish were all shaky shooters and Tre Jones was just as shaky among returners.

So, they weren't good at shooting and hit a team that got hot shooting it. That's an upset recipe.
