Would be nice if they could repurpose the Astrodome for hockey

I dont want to speak for everyone in Houston but I personally hate traveling to the south loop to NRG/Astrodome. Downtown traffic and in and out is much easier to me.

Having been to Astros games there, I can safely tell you that few fans would want to watch a game there.

Worst facility I attended in MLB. And that includes the Metrodome.

I would love that. Would be great to only have to travel a few hours to see them play my favorite team.

Those two seasons don’t overlap but maybe a few weeks at best.

More like a few days.

You'd need either Astros opening day or one team's playoff game.

The agreement between the NFL and Harris County which built the stadium and operates it and owns the Dome and operates it

had a bond referendum to pay for NRG contained in the language in that bond referendum is that nothing could be held in the Astrodome that would compete with NRG stadium

the effect and subsequent agreements between The Texas Houston NFL and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Harris County and the Harris County Houston Sports Authority dictates this

the parking and concessions go to the Texans at anything held there the County may hold events in the dome,, trade shows, HLSR fair etc but they must be in support of an event at NRG

I remember being in Houston on trips in the late 90s and there was literally zero coverage of the NHL in the chronicle. All I wanted was stars playoff scores. Nada.

Anyway, I’ve wondered how much the city cares about hockey.

Staples Center and MSG (guessing more) all host both NBA and NHL don't they?

I think there are 11 shared stadiums. How they can convert them so quickly is fascinating. I’ve seen a Stars game at 1 pm and then saw the Mavs play at 7 pm the same evening.

Cuban may move though, because he’s pissed at the Perot’s and I’m sure he’s not happy with Tom Gilardi (owner of the Stars) because he just bought one of the parking garages to build a hotel, which is Cubans gripe about the AAC is the lack of parking. I get his point to a degree, but people want to live and be entertained in that area.

support. I like watching hockey, (mostly the playoffs) hard to get involved in the regular season without a local team

At least you have a team in Dallas. It might not be a casual drive down the street, but it's not a lifetime away, either. I've been an Avalanche fan since '98. I have no trouble getting into it. Seeing them in person? Never happens.

it will be like the rockets. It will be a wasteland when the team isnt doing well, but theyll support it during the summer when they make the playoffs

Houston is an astros, texans, and college football city

Clearly you’ve never been to Wrigley Field, Arlington Stadium, the Oakland Coliseum, Shea Stadium, the Kingdome, or Tropicana Field
