quote:Well, it is true that Beverley did not have a good year... even on defense.
I think we were told 100 times that losing Beverley wasn't a big deal because he wasn't even good this year.
But I think people underestimated just how bad the back-up point guards were on defense because they only saw them in small doses compared to a full 48 in the playoffs.
Losing both Beverley and Motiejunas hurt, and saying otherwise means people were just trying to remain optimistic.
But even still, the Clippers are a bad match-up for the Rockets.

I think most people here and most NBA guys on Twitter and TV said that the absence of Beverley would negatively impact the Rockets. The only people who downplayed it were Rockets fans.

Lead by an ALL time great the Grizz don't have a player even in the top 25 at their position all time.

All time doesn't mean shite. They have the best center in the league, a great power forward and very good defensive players to round out their team. Plus they have pretty solid depth.
I've said most years that the Grizz can't shoot well enough to win an NBA title but it seems different this year. May be because of their massive coaching upgrade.

There's a number of reasons not just one.

Yea they are a solid team but comparing them to other title winning teams with all time great players leading the way they just don't stack up IMO. If they make it to the finals I can guarantee you'll see many many other people backing me up.

They were already frustrated with Beverley's play all year, so some of it was feelings of "good riddance" and some of it was just blind optimism.
Most of the national guys didn't even know that Beverley was struggling. They still thought he was an all-NBA defensive player. That's why they were saying it was going to hurt.

It's a dumb argument that's impossible to quantify but I'll say this. The Western Conference these past couple of years has been brutal, the toughest I've ever seen as far as sheer depth of very good teams. Whichever team is able to win the Western Conference will not be the worst team to ever win a title.

This thread still has action? We gots that many Clippers fans round here?

Is the series over?
Posted on 5/11/15 at 9:37 am to castorinho
My opinion? Yes. The Clippers are better. We have no answer for them. McHale's answer is to slow down the game by hacking Deandre, which takes us out of rythem. It's a stupid strategy, especially in the first half of a game. He really sucks.

Well until it's officially over, the series thread will keep going

It might as well be. Which of the remaining teams in the playoffs have looked more lifeless?
