They basically just lay their legs down and block 80% of the goal

If they couldn’t do that the sport would have more scoring and may actually be worth watching

Goalies would be injured with broken tibias all the time. Those hard rubber pucks fly in excess of 100 MPH.

I disagree with getting rid of pads but I 100% agree with limiting the size.

Pads in the 80s compared to now are insane

And they freeze the pucks before the game.
Just think when they used to not wear masks.

That pic is fake.

They used makeup to depict all the injuries he ever had at one time

That’s a dumb retort to the OP.

Goalie pads don’t look the way they do to protect the goalie. They are designed to block as much space as possible. Otherwise they would look like catchers gear.

You could protect the goalies while not letting them wear billboards on their legs. Though I’m not arguing you should.

Hockey goalies not wearing masks is one of the most insane things in the history of sports.

I am kind of amazed NHL skaters haven’t gone to full face protection. Pucks, sticks, skates. Losing your teeth shouldn’t be a normal part of the job.

Tell me you don't watch hockey without telling me you don't watch hockey.

Scores the last few season are at highs. It's been pretty wide open and a blast to watch ever since the likes of Detroits left wing lock was retired...

Good lord they were good but that was some boring arse hockey.

When Ron Tugnutt (very ironic name considering what I am about to type) was goaltending for Ottawa he had a slapshot break his cup and rupture a testicle.

Have you seen a defensemen take a slap shot? It’s like they’ve been shot. They’re hobbled and can’t skate off the ice - usually takes a couple of players to assist the guy off to the bench.
