HALF? The frick

The Brady discount was always overrated, but in no way was it that substantial

Not sure the NBA can punish the Clippers more than what the Clippers have done to themselves the last 25 years.

Suck franchise with suck results.

It was pretty substantial. He was always taking roughly 50-60% of his accepted market value from the mid 00s on. Most people attribute that to him “being a team player” (which is complete horseshite) or Giselle’s income (fair point) but given the fact that we have a laundry list of evidence of the Patriots cheating for a 20ish year period, would anyone really be remotely surprised if Kraft was paying him under the table?

He’s already called in a favor with Mark Cuban.

We will see how many more come to his defense.

This seems pretty bad for the Clippers.

The purported cut was much smaller, like 10-15%

am i the only one that doesn't give a frick about this?

I mean i get why it's wrong how it was done, but if you don't think there aren't deals like this in New York and Los Angeles and a few others you're kidding yourself.

You think Jalen Brunson is just taking a discount for shits and giggles? I"m sure there was some wink wink we'll get you your money through endorsements handshake.
and i'm sure Paul George got some type of similar way of getting extra money when he decided to join the Clippers. Same way i'm sure Carmelo had thigns lined up to make more money when he moved to the Knicks.

well shite you mind as well suspend the franchise then

That's the point. Make an example out of them so no one even thinks about trying something like this again. Banish them to irrelevance for awhile. If you do this in conjunction with forcing a sale, maybe the franchise's value goes down so Ballmer doesn't get to reap the benefits as much.

Do you make a habit of making up crap online that is easily shot down?

Look at what the top 3-5 QB salaries were from 06ish until 2020 and you’ll see the numbers I mentioned were accurate.

FFS he signed a 2 year $50 million contract with the Bucs when guys were getting $35-40 million the year prior. That was the same year that Mahomes signed his $45 million a year deal and started a wave of $45-55 million contracts.

Wut?

Pablo is as good a sports investigative reporter as there is. Only Wickersham is better IMO.Dude is ruthless.

Probably more like selling him real estate way below market value...something that could be "justified" as a real business deal if busted.*

*who am I kidding, we know "certain select" franchises will never be punished but dam it's only "fair" that the Jets forfeit a few 1st round picks over Tom and Kraft's cheating ways!!

Says the guy who make up shite that is easily shot down, and was called out for it

quote:

FFS he signed a 2 year $50 million contract with the Bucs when guys were getting $35-40 million the year prior.

AAV, sure. He got $50M guaranteed as an old, OK but not great, QB. There were also $9M in incentives, so it was almost 2/60 if we're doing pure AAV

quote:

hat was the same year that Mahomes signed his $45 million a year deal

You mean the 25 year old, best QB in the league got more AAV than Brady?

Compare their total payments the next 2 years and tell me who got more.

There is no way the NBA can let the Clippers win with Kawhi on the team.

Would be very bad. Best way to handle it is light punishment and first round exits in the playoffs.

Maybe the NBA has already been punishing them now that I think about it, because that is all the Clippers do.

The 2028 unprotected Clippers pick the Sixers hold may have just gotten a lot more valuable.
