The school ratted themselves out. What idiots. Lost a State Title over it. Sometimes it’s best to keep quiet. Win at all costs!

Winning in a sport means more than the integrity of said sport.

Fantastic lesson you’re wanting to teach literal kids there, chief.

Then those schools are just lazy, not paying attention, ignorant, or all of the above. There’s absolutely 0 reason why this should happen, or “not be uncommon”

Especially today

Assume they can easily get this since all grades are online now. It has to be super easy to check.

I get to sit in on meetings with the THSCA softball committee and UIL and in listening to everyone, there's a lot of reporting going on in the DFW area, especially Dallas area. It wouldn't have taken long for this to be reported by other schools.

This was a weird scenario. This is the word in Dallas...

Kid was ineligible for grades. But ineligibility is a week to week thing from Friday to Friday. He fixed his grades and was ruled eligible the Friday of the state championship game. Game was played at noon. Highland Park thought he was eligible. BUT, per the technical rule, the eligibility did not kick back in until school let out at 3:15pm. So, he was ineligible by 3 hours.

No... it's not week to week... it's by 6 week period with ability to regain eligibility after 3 weeks.

But the part that you're right about is that he regains eligibility at the end of the school day on the last school day of week 3...

Your statement is correct in meaning...

Liberty Hill is a tiny arse town north of Austin that's been experiencing a massive population boom the last few years going from 3k in 2020 to 10k in 2023.

The ISD is a customer of mine. I think they're closer to 20k now.

I had to drive through there to Marble Falls a couple of weeks ago. The growth and development out there is out of control.

nice area being overrun by Austinnites after they fouled up Georgetown, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Kyle, and Buda.

well this is the dumbest fricking thing ever. if they value school so much, maybe try not playing a game in the middle of the school day.

There are two division per class so I think 1a through 6a each have two state title games (at least in football). So there are 12 title games.

Correct

They seed place them based on school size. So 4 teams make the playoffs from each district. The top two in attendance go D1 the others go D2 I believe.

I think it used to be just done for football but they expanded it.

I think on the girls side in so this year it lead to two schools from the same district winning a title.

That's correct, except in volleyball, baseball, and softball, there is only 1 champion in 1A. There's not enough schools in those sports in 1A to split.

In soccer, we only have 4A, 5A, & 6A, so 6 champions. Any school in 1A-3A that plays soccer is automatically 4A...
