I am wondering where West Ouachita is going to land at?
That area has exploded in growth over the last 4-5 years.
Houses and subdivisions are going up in southwest Ouachita parish like wildfire.

And unfortunately for them their football team is still really bad

they and ND could build a nice rivalry pretty quick though
I don't think LCA wants that or is ready for that.
What I'd like to see is a regular season game between STM and ND....although it has always been resisted a bit from what I understand a little by both sides.

They try to keep about the same number of schools in each classification.
Before the split the numbers were about 60 or so per classification. I'm not sure what those numbers are now, but
Some schools grow over the years and some don't.
It's not about where a school wants to be or what classification they want to be in, I don't think.
All about enrollment numbers... at least for the public schools.

They were the biggest 4A school last time around, so its definitely possible they move up to 5A. IDK what that would do to the district. Maybe they would just slide into Ouachita's slot and everything would stay the same.

Where’s the link to the reclassification? Or the Advertiser article

a school can play up to any classification above their own

Are the numbers actually released yet or not? Seems like some people are saying they are waiting on numbers to be put out while others say they are already planning districts.
ETA: 3 weeks until first meeting to appeal districts and classifications, seems like it would be a bit more open if it was already released.

quote:split has nothing to do with classification other than a couple of schools playing up from 2004 through 2013 there was a rule in place that did not allow teams to play up in class by choice..... this rule is really the reason for the split
Before the split the numbers were about 60 or so per classification. I'm not sure what those numbers are now, but
as if forced ECA and JC down to 1a and 2a respectively(eca was not in 1a long)

Lakeshore has to be getting close to making 5A enrollment.
When they make it they will join the Northshore district and Hammond and Ponchatoula will join a district with the LP schools.
Hammond
Ponchatoula
Walker
Live Oak
Denham Springs
And probably one or two BR teams.

And probably one or two BR teams.
So Hammond, Ponchatoula, Walker, Live Oak, Denham Springs, Zachary, Central, and Scotlandville
ideally every district has 6 or 8 teams so that no one has a bye week during district
if Lakeshore joins the Northshore 5A district, i'd put St. Paul's in the Catholic League.
the problem with the process is schools have too much input.

I have heard St. Paul's has explored this and may be wanting to join the Catholic League.

quote:that would be best for everybody... it's very unfair for a team on the playoff bubble in week 10 to have to play a select school to get in bc that's how the district schedule happened to fall

Cant have competition for kids anymore, they cannot simply win to get in that would be wrong. They need to be guranteed a playoff spot then and only then can they play a "select" team and earn that check.
Posted on 10/18/18 at 11:56 am to chalmetteowl
Whats best for everybody is the non-select schools should play the select schools in non-district games only and if they win it counts but if they don't they still can keep the money but it does not show up in the loss column problem solved for you.

32 teams make the 5A playoffs vs 19 that don't make it. I mean...if you're on the bubble do you really deserve to make it in just to be served up to WM/Zachary/Destrehan on a platter?

LCA's opponents combined record this season is 13-35.

Not surprised! They elect to beat up on no win teams with kids from all over the state instead of playing anyone good. The good pastor is scared of playing anyone he knows they might not be able to beat. They have 3a & 4a talent on the field, but prefer playing Highland Baptist and Loureville.
